## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Currency Rates Scraper

> Live and historical exchange rates for 340+ fiat and crypto currencies, any base, no API key.

### What you get

One Actor that answers every shape of the exchange-rate question and writes the result as flat dataset rows: latest rates, a single historical day, a full daily time series, and converted amounts. Ask for any base currency and either name the quote currencies you care about or take everything the source publishes.

It reads four free, keyless sources and picks the right one for the request:

| Source | Coverage | History |
|---|---|---|
| European Central Bank (via Frankfurter) | 30 reference currencies | Daily, back to 1999 |
| ExchangeRate-API open access | 166 currencies | Latest only |
| Currency API | 340+ fiat and crypto | Daily |
| FloatRates | 146 currencies | Latest only |

Unlike exchangeratesapi.io, fixer.io, or openexchangerates.org, none of these require you to register for a key or stay inside a monthly call quota.

### Output fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `base_currency`, `quote_currency`, `pair` | The currency pair for this row |
| `date`, `requested_date` | Publication date, and the date you asked for |
| `rate`, `inverse_rate` | Quote per one base unit, and the inverse |
| `amount`, `converted_amount` | Your amount converted at this rate |
| `provider`, `provider_name` | Which source answered |
| `retrieved_at` | Collection timestamp |

### Example output

```json
{"base_currency":"USD","quote_currency":"INR","pair":"USD/INR","date":"2026-09-11","rate":95.513702,"inverse_rate":0.0104697,"amount":250,"converted_amount":23878.4255,"provider":"erapi","provider_name":"ExchangeRate-API open access"}
```

### Input parameters

| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `baseCurrencies` | Yes | Currencies to price against, such as USD, EUR, BTC |
| `targetCurrencies` | No | Quote currencies; empty means every currency the source publishes |
| `provider` | No | Automatic by default; pin to ECB, ExchangeRate-API, Currency API, or FloatRates |
| `date` | No | Single historical day as YYYY-MM-DD |
| `startDate`, `endDate` | No | Daily time series between two dates |
| `amount` | No | Amount converted in every row; defaults to 1 |
| `maxResults` | No | Upper bound on saved rows; defaults to 10,000 |

### Use cases

- Finance and accounting teams can schedule a daily rate table for reporting and revaluation.
- E-commerce and marketplaces can refresh storefront pricing across markets.
- Analysts can pull a multi-year daily series for one pair and chart it directly.
- Crypto dashboards can price 340+ coins and tokens against any fiat currency from the same run.

### Limitations

Exchange rates are reference rates, not executable quotes; they carry no spread, fee, or settlement guarantee. Weekends and holidays have no ECB publication, so a request for such a date returns the preceding published day and both dates are recorded. The widest historical coverage (Currency API) fetches history one day at a time, so very long ranges take longer than the ECB series. Crypto pairs are unavailable from the ECB and FloatRates sources.

### Compared to alternatives

Most rate Actors wrap one keyed API and pass its limits to you. This one is keyless, spans four sources, covers fiat and crypto in the same schema, and returns latest, historical, series, and conversion from a single input form, with the answering source recorded on every row.

### FAQ

#### Is an API key required?

No. Every source used here is free and open.

#### Which direction is the rate?

`rate` is how many units of `quote_currency` one unit of `base_currency` buys. `inverse_rate` is the reverse.

#### Why is `date` different from the date I requested?

FX reference rates are not published on weekends and holidays. The row then carries the last published date, and `requested_date` preserves what you asked for.

# Actor input Schema

## `baseCurrencies` (type: `array`):

Currencies to price everything against, such as USD, EUR, or INR. One row is saved per base and quote pair.

## `targetCurrencies` (type: `array`):

Currencies to convert into. Leave empty to save every currency the provider quotes.

## `provider` (type: `string`):

Leave on automatic to pick the best free source for the request. No API key is needed for any of them.

## `date` (type: `string`):

Single day to price, as YYYY-MM-DD. Leave empty for the latest published rates.

## `startDate` (type: `string`):

First day of a time series, as YYYY-MM-DD. Use with range end.

## `endDate` (type: `string`):

Last day of a time series, as YYYY-MM-DD. Defaults to today when a start is given.

## `amount` (type: `integer`):

Converts this amount of the base currency in every row. Leave at 1 for plain rates.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Upper bound on saved rate rows.
