Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Headout Reviews Scraper

Extract public customer reviews from Headout tours, attractions, museums, tickets, cruises, theme parks, and other travel experiences. The Actor uses Headout's own review JSON endpoint and needs no browser, proxy, authentication, or cookies.

### What it returns

- Review, tour-group, tour, and booking IDs
- Rating, title, original content, translated content, and source language
- Reviewer name, profile image, country, and traveler persona
- Publication timestamp and customer-uploaded image metadata
- Optional activity name, average rating, total review count, and star distribution for URL inputs

### Input

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    "https://www.headout.com/athens-acropolis-tickets/acropolis-parthenon-tickets-with-optional-audio-guide-e-12045/"
  ],
  "maxReviews": 250,
  "sortBy": "MOST_RECENT",
  "language": "EN",
  "ratings": ["4", "5"],
  "sourceLanguages": ["EN", "IT"],
  "withImagesOnly": false,
  "cutoffDate": "2025-01-01",
  "aggregateRatings": false
}
```

The singular `startUrl` input is also accepted for compatibility with existing integrations. `tourGroupIds` accepts the numeric ID from a Headout URL's `e-12045` suffix for API-first batch integrations.

### Technical approach

- Pure HTTP against Headout's public `/api/v6/tour-groups/{id}/reviews` endpoint
- Up to 100 reviews per API page with offset pagination
- No browser or proxy; 256 MB memory
- Automatic retries, rate limiting, deduplication, batch URLs, and client-side filters
- Optional aggregate ratings for URL inputs from the page's embedded Next.js state

### Pricing

Pay per review written to the dataset. Empty runs, retries, duplicates, and filtered-out reviews are not charged.

| Tier | Price per review |
|---|---:|
| FREE | $0.0030 |
| BRONZE | $0.0025 |
| SILVER | $0.0020 |
| GOLD | $0.0015 |

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Headout pages for tours, attractions, museums, tickets, cruises, or other experiences.

## `tourGroupIds` (type: `array`):

Optional numeric IDs from the e-12345 suffix in Headout activity URLs.

## `maxReviews` (type: `integer`):

Maximum matching reviews returned for every activity. The Actor keeps paginating when filters exclude reviews.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order reviews by publication time or Headout relevance.

## `language` (type: `string`):

## `withImagesOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Return only reviews containing customer-uploaded media.

## `cutoffDate` (type: `string`):

Optional ISO date such as 2026-07-01. Older reviews are skipped.

## `aggregateRatings` (type: `boolean`):

For activity URL inputs, fetch the page and add its average rating, counts, and star distribution to each output row.
