# Shopify Store Finder (`thirdwatch/shopify-store-finder`) Actor

Discover live Shopify stores by niche or keyword. Mines certificate-transparency logs for the myshopify.com corpus, verifies each store via its public products feed, and matches keywords against real product titles, types, tags and vendors.

## Pricing

from $2.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Finder

Discover **live Shopify stores by niche or keyword** — lead lists for agencies, app developers, and dropshipping research.

### How it works

1. Builds a candidate corpus from two sources:
   - **Reverse-IP** on Shopify's shared storefront IPs (23.227.38.x) — each IP hosts hundreds of real store domains.
   - **Google SERP** harvest of `"{keyword}" "Powered by Shopify"` result domains (when the SERP proxy group is available).
2. Verifies every candidate via its public `/products.json` feed — only live stores with real products pass.
3. Matches your keywords against product titles, product types, tags, and vendors — real niche matching, not domain guessing.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `keywords` | array | `[]` | Niche keywords (e.g. `["skincare", "vegan"]`). Empty = any live store. |
| `seeds` | array | `[]` | Extra store domains to include as candidates. |
| `maxResults` | integer | `50` | Stop after this many matching live stores. |
| `minProducts` | integer | `1` | Minimum products exposed by the store's feed. |
| `ipScanCount` | integer | `30` | Random Shopify IPs to reverse-lookup (~50-100 domains each). |
| `serpPages` | integer | `1` | Google result pages per keyword for domain harvesting. |
| `scanLimit` | integer | `1000` | Max candidate domains to probe. |

### Output

One dataset record per live matching store:

```json
{
  "store": "brandname.com",
  "store_url": "https://brandname.com",
  "matched_keywords": ["skincare"],
  "product_types": ["Serum", "Moisturizer"],
  "top_tags": ["vegan", "cruelty-free"],
  "vendors": ["Brandname"],
  "sample_products": [{"title": "...", "product_type": "...", "vendor": "...", "handle": "..."}],
  "verified_live": true,
  "scraped_at": "..."
}
```

A `SUMMARY` record in the key-value store reports run status (`OK` / `NO_RESULTS`).

### Notes

- Pure HTTP — no browser. Reverse-IP lookups run through a residential proxy (the free API blocks datacenter IPs).
- Every result is verified live at run time — no stale store lists.
- Keyword matching is substring-based on real product data; 2-4 specific terms give tight niches.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Niche keywords to match against product titles, product types, tags and vendors. Leave empty to list any live store.

## `seeds` (type: `array`):

Optional extra store domains to include in the candidate list.

## `ipScanCount` (type: `integer`):

How many random IPs inside Shopify's hosting range to reverse-resolve into store domains (each yields ~50-100 domains).

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after finding this many live matching stores.

## `minProducts` (type: `integer`):

Skip stores whose public product feed exposes fewer products than this.

## `serpPages` (type: `integer`):

Google result pages (100 results each) to harvest store domains from, per keyword.

## `scanLimit` (type: `integer`):

How many candidate store domains to probe with the products feed.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keywords": [],
  "seeds": [],
  "ipScanCount": 30,
  "maxResults": 50,
  "minProducts": 1,
  "serpPages": 1,
  "scanLimit": 1000
}
```

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("thirdwatch/shopify-store-finder").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
## MCP server setup
```json
