## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## ⭐ App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper — Ratings & Replies

Scrape **app reviews from the Apple App Store and Google Play** in one run: **star rating, title, text, date, app version, helpful votes and the developer's reply**, plus an **app info row** with the average rating, number of ratings, installs, version, developer and genre. Any country, newest or most relevant first, and **filter by stars** (e.g. only 1★ and 2★ complaints).

**$0.10 per 1,000 reviews.** App info rows are free. No API key, no login.

- ✅ **Both stores** in the same table (`store`: `appstore` / `googleplay`)
- ✅ **Any input**: App Store links or IDs, Google Play links or package names
- ✅ **Any country** (us, gb, es, de, fr, br, in…) and **language** (Google Play)
- ✅ **Star filter**: collect only complaints, or only 5★ praise
- ✅ **Developer replies** and reply dates (Google Play)
- ✅ **App info**: rating, ratings count, installs, version, genre, release date, rating histogram
- ✅ Thousands of Google Play reviews per app; the App Store's public feed gives the **latest 500 per country**

### Who uses it

- **Product managers** — bugs and feature requests straight from users, by version.
- **App marketers & ASO** — compare your rating and reviews with competitors in each country.
- **Customer support** — export unanswered 1★ reviews to reply.
- **Researchers & AI teams** — datasets for sentiment analysis and topic modelling; summarise thousands of reviews with an LLM.

### How to use it

1. **Apps**: one per line, mixing stores freely:
   ```
   https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997
   https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duolingo
   com.spotify.music
   310633997
   ```
2. **Countries** (and **language** for Google Play), **max reviews per app**, **order**, optional **star filter**.
3. Run and export to CSV, Excel, JSON or HTML, or schedule it weekly to track new reviews.

### Output example

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "store": "googleplay",
  "appId": "com.duolingo",
  "appName": "Duolingo: Learn Languages",
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en",
  "reviewId": "…",
  "userName": "…",
  "rating": 2,
  "title": null,
  "text": "…",
  "date": "2026-10-19T08:12:44+00:00",
  "appVersion": "…",
  "helpfulVotes": 3,
  "developerReply": "…",
  "developerReplyDate": "2026-10-19T10:03:10+00:00",
  "charged": true
}
```

App info rows have `"type": "app"` with `rating`, `ratingsCount`, `installs` (Google Play), `version`, `developer`, `genre`, `releaseDate`, `url`, `icon` and (Google Play) the star `histogram`.

### Analyze the results with AI

Turn reviews into decisions: [Bulk ChatGPT & Claude for Datasets](https://apify.com/tidydata/ai-dataset-enricher) adds **sentiment**, sorts reviews into **your own categories** (bug, pricing, feature request…) and can **translate** them, one new column per answer.

Run it as an **integration**: in this Actor's *Integrations* tab add **Bulk ChatGPT & Claude** and set its datasets to `{{resource.defaultDatasetId}}`, so every run is analyzed automatically. No API key needed.

### Pricing

**$0.0001 per review ($0.10 per 1,000).** App info rows and errors are free.

| You scrape | You pay |
|---|---|
| 500 reviews of 1 app | $0.125 |
| 1,000 reviews × 10 competitor apps | $2.50 |

Higher Apify plans get an automatic discount. Set a **maximum cost per run** to stay in control.

### FAQ

**Why only 500 App Store reviews?**
Apple's public review feed returns the latest 500 reviews per country. Add more countries to get more.

**Are Google Play reviews translated?**
No — you get the reviews written in the language you choose (`language`).

**Do I need the app's ID?**
Paste the store link; IDs and package names are read from it.

**Is it legal?**
The Actor reads public reviews only. Reviews can contain personal data (user names): use them for legitimate purposes such as product research and respect privacy laws.

Something doesn't work? Open an issue in the **Issues** tab with the app link — we answer fast.
