## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## 📰 Google News Scraper — Articles, Publishers & Real Links

Scrape **Google News** for any keyword, company, topic or website and get a clean table of articles: **title, publisher, publish date, related coverage and the real article URL** — the publisher's link, not Google's redirect. Search in **15 countries and languages**, filter by **last hour, day, week, month or year**, and use Google News search operators.

**$1 per 1,000 articles.** No API key, no login.

- ✅ **Real publisher URLs** (`https://elpais.com/…`), resolved automatically
- ✅ **Any search**: keywords, `"exact phrases"`, `site:reuters.com`, `intitle:`, `-exclude`, `OR` — or paste a Google News topic / search link
- ✅ **15 editions**: US, UK, India, Canada, Australia, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Japan
- ✅ **Time filter**: last hour, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, year
- ✅ **Related coverage**: other outlets covering the same story (`relatedArticles`)
- ✅ **No duplicates** across searches and editions
- ✅ Up to 100 articles per search and edition, in seconds

### Who uses it

- **PR & communications** — daily press clippings for a brand, CEO or competitor.
- **Investors & analysts** — news flow for tickers, companies and sectors.
- **Marketers & SEO** — trending stories in a niche, publishers that cover it.
- **AI builders** — fresh news for RAG, summaries and newsletters (pair it with our [Article Text Extractor](https://apify.com/tidydata/article-text-extractor) to get the full text).
- **Researchers & journalists** — media monitoring across countries and languages.

### How to use it

1. **Search terms**: one per line, e.g. `apify`, `"electric cars" site:reuters.com`, `intitle:openai -sam`.
2. **Countries / languages**: one or more editions.
3. **Published in the last…**: any time, hour, 24 h, 7 days, 30 days or year.
4. Run, then export to CSV, Excel, JSON or HTML, or schedule it daily for alerts.

### Output example

```json
{
  "query": "apify",
  "edition": "US:en",
  "title": "In the Agentic Economy, Trust Is the Product",
  "publisher": "Time Magazine",
  "publisherUrl": "https://time.com",
  "url": "https://time.com/branded-content/apg/in-the-agentic-economy-trust-is-the-product/",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi…",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-15T13:28:55+00:00",
  "relatedArticles": [],
  "articleId": "CBMi…"
}
```

### Analyze the results with AI

Need a digest? [Bulk ChatGPT & Claude for Datasets](https://apify.com/tidydata/ai-dataset-enricher) can **summarize** each article, **classify** it by topic or tone, or **extract** companies, people and places into columns.

Run it as an **integration**: in this Actor's *Integrations* tab add **Bulk ChatGPT & Claude** and set its datasets to `{{resource.defaultDatasetId}}`, so every run is analyzed automatically. No API key needed.

### Pricing

**$0.001 per article ($1 per 1,000).**

| You run | You pay |
|---|---|
| 1 search, 100 articles | $0.10 |
| 10 brand searches every day for a month (≈ 6,000 new articles) | ≈ $6 |

Duplicates are removed before charging. Higher Apify plans get an automatic discount. Set a **maximum cost per run** to stay in control.

### Daily news alerts

Save a task with your searches and **Published in the last… = 24 hours**, add a **schedule** (e.g. every morning) and an integration (email, Slack, Google Sheets, webhook). To keep only articles you haven't seen, connect our [Merge, Deduplicate & Transform](https://apify.com/tidydata/merge-dedupe-datasets) Actor with *Only new rows* on `articleId`.

### Use it from code

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("tidydata/google-news-scraper").call(run_input={
    "queries": ["\"electric cars\"", "site:reuters.com tesla"],
    "editions": ["US:en", "GB:en"],
    "timeRange": "7d",
})
for a in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(a["publishedAt"], a["publisher"], a["title"], a["url"])
```

### FAQ

**Why do I get fewer than 100 articles?**
Google News returns at most 100 per search and edition, and fewer for niche terms or short time windows.

**Does it return the full article text?**
No — title, publisher, date and link. For the full text use our [Article Text Extractor](https://apify.com/tidydata/article-text-extractor) on the `url` column.

**Can a real URL be missing?**
Rarely, if Google doesn't resolve a link; then `url` is empty and `googleNewsUrl` still opens the article.

**Is it legal?**
The Actor reads Google News' public RSS feeds. Articles belong to their publishers: link to them and respect copyright when you reuse content.

Something doesn't work? Open an issue in the **Issues** tab — we answer fast.
