## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## 🗺️ Sitemap URL Extractor — every page of any website

Give it a website and get **all the URLs listed in its sitemaps**, with `lastmod`, `priority` and `changefreq`. It finds the sitemaps through **robots.txt** and the usual locations, follows **sitemap indexes** and reads **.gz** files. **$0.30 per 1,000 URLs.**

- ✅ Works with a website address or a direct sitemap link
- ✅ Nested sitemap indexes and compressed sitemaps
- ✅ Filter by text (e.g. only `/blog/`) and remove duplicates
- ✅ Cost limit per website, so a huge site never surprises you
- ✅ Great as the first step of SEO audits, content inventories, migrations and AI crawlers

### How to use it

1. Paste one or more websites (`https://example.com`) or sitemap links.
2. Optionally set the maximum URLs per site and a text filter.
3. Run and export CSV, Excel, JSON or XML.

### Output example

```json
{
  "url": "https://apify.com/about",
  "lastmod": "2026-09-02",
  "changefreq": null,
  "priority": null,
  "sitemap": "https://apify.com/sitemap/pages.xml",
  "domain": "apify.com"
}
```

### Pricing

**$0.0003 per URL extracted** ($0.30 per 1,000). Websites without a sitemap return one free row saying so.

### Notes

- Only sitemaps that the website publishes are read. If a site has none, nothing is invented.
- Files up to 80 MB each; up to 5,000 sitemap files per website.

# Actor input Schema

## `websites` (type: `array`):

A website address (https://example.com) or a direct sitemap link (https://example.com/sitemap.xml). For a website, the sitemaps are found through its robots.txt and the usual locations.

## `maxUrlsPerSite` (type: `integer`):

Stop reading a website after this many URLs. Use it to keep costs under control on huge sites.

## `urlContains` (type: `string`):

Optional. Keep only the URLs that contain this text, for example /blog/ or /product/.

## `removeDuplicates` (type: `boolean`):

The same URL often appears in several sitemaps. Keep it only once.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "websites": [
    {
      "url": "https://apify.com"
    }
  ],
  "maxUrlsPerSite": 5000,
  "removeDuplicates": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per result.
