# OSM Overpass POI Query (`tidydata69/osm-overpass-poi`) Actor

## Pricing

from $1.50 / 1,000 osm pois

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## OSM Overpass POI Query

Query **OpenStreetMap** points of interest via the **Overpass API** only (bbox or radius + tag filters).

This Actor never scrapes `openstreetmap.org` HTML and **never outputs email/phone contact packs** — contact tags are stripped from every row.

### What you get

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `osmType` / `osmId` | OSM element identity |
| `name` / `lat` / `lon` | Label and coordinates |
| `primaryKey` / `primaryValue` | Queried tag |
| `tags` | Sanitized tags (no phone/email) |
| `osmUrl` | Link to the OSM element |
| `attribution` / `license` | ODbL attribution on **every** row |

### Input

- **bbox** — `south,west,north,east` **or**
- **centerLat** + **centerLon** + **radiusMeters**
- **key** / **value** — e.g. `amenity`=`cafe`
- **extraTags** — additional `key=value` AND filters
- **elementTypes** — `node`, `way`, `relation`
- **limit** / **timeoutSeconds** / **overpassUrl** / **requestDelayMs**

#### Example

```json
{
  "centerLat": 40.758,
  "centerLon": -73.9855,
  "radiusMeters": 400,
  "key": "amenity",
  "value": "cafe",
  "limit": 25
}
```

### Pricing (pay-per-event)

| Event | Price | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `apify-actor-start` | **$0.005** | Synthetic Actor start |
| `poi` | **$0.0015** | One POI written |

### License

Output data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under **ODbL 1.0**. Attribution is included on every dataset row.

### Limitations & rules

- Overpass API only — no OSM website HTML scraping.
- No proxies.
- Contact fields (`phone`, `email`, `contact:*` phone/email) are always omitted.

# Actor input Schema

## `bbox` (type: `string`):

Optional bbox as south,west,north,east (decimal degrees). Provide bbox OR center+radiusMeters.

## `centerLat` (type: `number`):

Center latitude for around: queries (used with radiusMeters when bbox is empty).

## `centerLon` (type: `number`):

Center longitude for around: queries.

## `radiusMeters` (type: `integer`):

Search radius in meters around center (1–25000).

## `key` (type: `string`):

Primary tag key (e.g. amenity, shop, tourism).

## `value` (type: `string`):

Primary tag value (e.g. cafe, restaurant). Leave empty to match any value for the key.

## `extraTags` (type: `array`):

Optional additional key=value filters (AND). Example: cuisine=coffee_shop

## `elementTypes` (type: `array`):

OSM element types to query: node, way, and/or relation (validated in Actor).

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on dataset rows.

## `timeoutSeconds` (type: `integer`):

Passed to Overpass \[timeout:N].

## `overpassUrl` (type: `string`):

Default https://overpass.osm.ch/api/interpreter. Fallbacks tried automatically on failure.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Polite delay before retries / multi-call runs.

  "requestDelayMs": 1000
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
OpenStreetMap POIs from Overpass (ODbL attributed; contact fields stripped).
You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.
## JavaScript example
```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';

// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});

// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "bbox": "40.748, -73.990, 40.762, -73.968",

// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("tidydata69/osm-overpass-poi").call(input);

// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
