## Pricing

from $0.80 / 1,000 article scrapeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper: Search, Topics, Any Country

Pull **Google News articles** for any **search query**, **topic section** or **Top stories** feed, in any language and country edition, as clean structured data: **headline, the original article URL (not a Google redirect), publisher name and website, publish date, related coverage from other outlets and the full-coverage story link**, plus, if you want them, **the article's description and main image**. Search operators work (`"exact phrase"`, `OR`, `site:`, `intitle:`, `-exclude`), and a date range lets you go past Google's 100-results-per-feed limit.

**$2 per 1,000 articles** (less on paid plans), no start fee. No login, cookies or API key, and a default run finishes in seconds.

### What you can do with it

- **Media monitoring and PR:** track every mention of your brand, competitors or executives, daily or hourly.
- **Market and investment research:** follow a ticker, sector or keyword (`nvidia`, `"interest rates"`, `site:reuters.com tariffs`) and feed headlines into a spreadsheet, BI tool or LLM.
- **News datasets:** build a dated archive of headlines on a topic with a `dateFrom`/`dateTo` range.
- **Newsletters and alerts:** pipe fresh articles into Slack, email or Notion with Apify integrations and schedules.
- **Local and international news:** read the edition of any country (`country: DE`, `language: de`) or its topic sections.

### Compared with Google News Scraper (Pay Per Event)

We built this to beat [Google News Scraper (Pay Per Event)](https://apify.com/data_xplorer/google-news-scraper-fast)
(`data_xplorer/google-news-scraper-fast`), the most-used Google News actor on Apify Store, on price with the same results.
In October 2026 we ran both on the **same 3 searches** (`artificial intelligence`, `site:reuters.com tariffs`, `Apify`,
US English, up to 100 articles each), theirs with URL decoding, descriptions and images on, ours with `extractDetails` on.

| | This actor | Google News Scraper (Pay Per Event) |
|---|---|---|
| Articles returned | 247 | 248 |
| Original article URL (not a Google link) | **100%** | 100% |
| Description, on the 239 articles both returned | 118 | **122** |
| Image, on the same 239 | 108 | **118** |
| Related coverage + full-coverage story link | **yes** | no |
| Date range past ~100 articles per search | **yes** (`dateFrom`/`dateTo`) | no |
| Price per 1,000 articles, Free / Gold plan | **$2.00 / $0.80** | $4.00 / $1.00 |

**Where they still win:** a few more descriptions and images from publishers that refuse automated visits from cloud
servers (Washington Post, CBS News, UPI in our test), and a configurable proxy.

### Input

```json
{
  "queries": ["artificial intelligence", "\"OpenAI\" site:reuters.com"],
  "topics": ["TECHNOLOGY"],
  "language": "en-US",
  "country": "US",
  "timeframe": "1d",
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `queries` | One Google News search per line. Operators work. Default: `artificial intelligence`. |
| `topics` | Optional topic sections: Top stories, World, Nation, Business, Technology, Entertainment, Science, Sports, Health. |
| `topicUrls` | Any Google News topic or section page link copied from your browser (a sub-topic, a city, a team, a company). |
| `language`, `country` | Edition to read, e.g. `en-US`/`US`, `en-GB`/`GB`, `de`/`DE`, `fr`/`FR`, `ja`/`JP`. |
| `timeframe` | Last hour, 6/12 hours, 1/2/7/14/30 days or year (search queries only). |
| `dateFrom`, `dateTo` | Date range. Each query is split into day-sized windows (up to 60), so you can get well over 100 articles per query. |
| `maxItemsPerQuery`, `maxItems` | Caps per query and for the whole run (default 50). Duplicates across queries are removed first. |
| `decodeUrls` | Return the real publisher URL in `url`/`publisherUrl` (default on). Turn off for the fastest runs. |
| `extractDetails` | Also return each article's `description` and main image (`imageUrl`) from its own page (default off; slower). |

### How to use

1. Type your searches into **Search queries** (and/or pick **Topic sections**), and choose the language and country.
2. Optionally set **Published within** or a **date range**, and **Max articles in total** to cap your cost.
3. Click **Start**, then download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or schedule the run to repeat.

### Output

One item per article:

```json
{
  "title": "Hackers heat French supermarket fridges, sparking fires and food losses",
  "source": "Reuters",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.reuters.com",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-12T14:30:09Z",
  "url": "https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/hackers-heat-french-supermarket-fridges-2026-10-12/",
  "publisherUrl": "https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/hackers-heat-french-supermarket-fridges-2026-10-12/",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi...?oc=5",
  "articleId": "CBMi...",
  "relatedArticles": [{"title": "...", "source": "BBC", "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/..."}],
  "storyUrl": "https://news.google.com/stories/...",
  "description": "Cyberattackers turned up the temperature of ... (with extractDetails)",
  "imageUrl": "https://www.reuters.com/resizer/... (with extractDetails)",
  "query": null, "topic": "BUSINESS", "language": "en-GB", "country": "GB",
  "position": 1, "scrapedAt": "2026-10-12T15:52:25Z"
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `title` | Headline, with the trailing " - Publisher" removed. |
| `source`, `sourceUrl` | Publisher name and its home page. |
| `publishedAt` | Publish time (ISO 8601, UTC). |
| `url` | The article's own URL (the Google News link if it could not be resolved or `decodeUrls` is off). |
| `publisherUrl` | The original article URL on the publisher's site (`null` if not resolved). |
| `googleNewsUrl` | The Google News link from the feed. |
| `description`, `imageUrl` | The article's summary and main image from its own page (`extractDetails`; `null` when the publisher refuses automated visits). |
| `relatedArticles` | Other outlets' coverage of the same story (topic and Top stories feeds). |
| `storyUrl` | Google News "full coverage" page for the story, when given. |
| `query` / `topic`, `position` | Which input produced the article, and its rank in that feed. |

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$2.00 per 1,000 articles** on the Free plan, down to $0.80 on higher plans (`article-scraped`), no start fee. Duplicates and your caps are applied before you are charged. A run that finds nothing fails instead of silently returning an empty dataset.

| Apify plan tier | Free | Bronze | Silver | Gold | Platinum | Diamond |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| per 1,000 articles | $2.00 | $1.70 | $1.30 | $0.80 | $0.80 | $0.80 |

### Limits and notes

- Google News returns at most about 100 articles per search. Use a date range to collect more; very broad queries can still be capped per day.
- Search results are ordered by Google's relevance, not strictly by date.
- Original URLs are resolved for nearly every article (1,141 of 1,141 in our 14-feed test, Oct 2026). If Google throttles a very large run, the rest keep the Google News link in `url` and `publisherUrl` is `null`.
- `description`/`imageUrl` come from the publisher's page; some publishers (paywalled or bot-protected sites) refuse, and those rows keep `null`.
- Headlines and short metadata only; this actor does not download full article text.
- Article headlines and content belong to their publishers. Check that your use fits the publishers' and Google's terms.
- Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One search per line, exactly as you would type it into Google News. Operators work: "exact phrase", OR, -exclude, site:reuters.com, intitle:earnings. Each query returns up to ~100 articles (more with a date range below).

## `topics` (type: `array`):

Optional: also pull Google News topic sections (or Top stories) for the chosen language and country.

## `topicUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional: any Google News topic or section page link copied from your browser (e.g. a sub-topic like Artificial intelligence, a city, a team or a company page).

## `language` (type: `string`):

Google News interface language code, e.g. en-US, en-GB, de, fr, es-419, ja, pt-BR.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country edition, e.g. US, GB, IN, DE, FR, JP, BR.

## `timeframe` (type: `string`):

Only articles from the last hour/day/week etc. Applies to search queries. Ignored when a date range is set.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

Optional start date (YYYY-MM-DD). With a date range each query is split into day-sized windows, so you can collect far more than 100 articles per query (one feed request per window, up to 60 windows).

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Optional end date (YYYY-MM-DD, inclusive). Defaults to today when only a start date is set.

## `maxItemsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Cap per query or topic. 0 = no per-query cap.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on results for the whole run (also caps your cost). Duplicates across queries are removed before counting.

## `decodeUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Return each article's real publisher URL in `url` and `publisherUrl` instead of a Google News redirect link. On by default; turn off for the fastest runs.

## `extractDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Also read each article's own page for its description (summary) and main image (`description`, `imageUrl`). Slower; some publishers refuse automated visits, and those rows keep null.
