## Pricing

from $0.64 / 1,000 exchange rates

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## NBU Exchange Rates API — official hryvnia rates, history and invoice conversion

NBU Exchange Rates API returns the official National Bank of Ukraine exchange rates as flat JSON: any date, any range, any currency. Convert invoices to UAH on the invoice and payment dates and get the exchange difference (курсові різниці) ready for accounting.

### What it does

- **Rates** - all currencies or a selected list for one date, many dates, or a long range (one currency = one request for the whole range).
- **Convert** - invoices with amount, currency, invoice date and payment date -> UAH on each date and exchange gain or loss.
- **Monitor** - get an alert when USD, EUR or any currency moves by a chosen percentage since the previous run.
- Official source only: bank.gov.ua, no scraping, no API key.

### Who it's for

- Ukrainian sole proprietors (ФОП) and accountants
- ERP, billing and marketplace integrations
- Fintech and treasury dashboards
- Importers and exporters booking foreign currency invoices

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `mode` | string | `rates` | What to do. `rates` - official rates for dates, ranges and currencies `convert` - convert invoices to UAH and compute exchange differences `monitor` - alert when a rate moves by a threshold `selftest` - health check (for schedules) |
| `currencies` | array | `["USD", "EUR"]` | 3-letter ISO codes, e.g. USD, EUR, PLN. Empty = all currencies (rates mode). |
| `dates` | array |  | Specific dates YYYY-MM-DD. Empty = latest published rates. |
| `dateFrom` | string | | Start of a date range (YYYY-MM-DD). With exactly one currency the whole range is one request. |
| `dateTo` | string |  | End of the date range (YYYY-MM-DD). |
| `invoices` | array | `[{"id": "INV-1", "amount": 1000, "currency": "USD", "invoiceDate": "2026-09-01", "paymentDate": "2026-10-01"}]` | Convert mode: objects with amount, currency, invoiceDate and optional paymentDate and id. |
| `thresholdPercent` | number | `0.5` | Monitor mode: alert when the rate moved at least this many percent since the previous run. |
| `maxItems` | integer | `200` | Stop after this many billable results (a spending cap per run). |

Modes: `rates`, `convert`, `monitor`, `selftest`.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "mode": "rates",
  "currencies": [
    "USD",
    "EUR"
  ],
  "dates": [
    "2026-10-23"
  ]
}
```

### Output example

Every row is flat JSON with `status` (`ok`, `not_found`, `invalid_input`, `source_error`), `source`, `sourceUrl`, `fetchedAt` and `dataAsOf`.

```json
{
  "status": "ok",
  "source": "National Bank of Ukraine - official exchange rates (bank.gov.ua)",
  "sourceUrl": "https://bank.gov.ua/en/markets/exchangerates",
  "fetchedAt": "2026-10-25T08:00:00Z",
  "dataAsOf": "2026-10-23",
  "date": "2026-10-23",
  "cc": "USD",
  "name": "Долар США",
  "units": 1,
  "rate": 45.051,
  "uahPerUnit": 45.051
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event — you pay only for results, never for empty or failed lookups (`not_found`, `invalid_input` and `source_error` rows are free).

| Event | What is charged | Price | Per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| `rate` | Exchange rate | $0.0008 | $0.8 |
| `conversion` | Invoice conversion | $0.0015 | $1.5 |
| `change-event` | Rate move alert | $0.02 | $20 |

Apify platform usage (compute, storage) is included in the event prices. Set *Maximum cost per run* in the run options to cap spending; the Actor stops cleanly when the limit is reached. Apify subscribers on Bronze, Silver and Gold plans get automatic discounts on the event prices.

### Use with MCP, n8n, Make and Zapier

- **Apify MCP server** — add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=tiger19935/nbu-exchange-rates` to Claude, Cursor or any MCP client so an AI agent can call this Actor as a tool.
- **n8n / Make / Zapier** — use the Apify integration, pick *Run Actor*, select `tiger19935/nbu-exchange-rates` and map the dataset items. Saved Tasks + a schedule turn it into a monitor with webhooks.
- **API** — `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/tiger19935~nbu-exchange-rates/runs` or the official Apify clients for JavaScript and Python.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to use this data?**
The Actor only reads official open data from the National Bank of Ukraine (bank.gov.ua). NBU rates are public official data. Every row carries `source` and `sourceUrl` so you can attribute it. No captcha, login or personal data of private individuals is bypassed or collected.

**How fresh is the data?**
Each row has `dataAsOf` - the publication date of the source file or API. If the publisher stops updating, `dataAsOf` stops moving and the daily self-test run fails, so you can tell stale data from a broken Actor.

**What happens when nothing is found or the source is down?**
You get a `not_found` or `source_error` row and you are not charged. The Actor never fails silently with an empty dataset.

**How do I get alerts?**
Create a Task with `mode: monitor`, schedule it (hourly or daily) and add a webhook, or connect the Apify integration in n8n, Make or Zapier. Only new, changed and removed records are returned and charged.

**Why is there no rate for some dates?**
The NBU publishes rates for working days and announces rates for the following day; for dates it has not published yet you get a free `not_found` row.
