## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Reviews Intelligence: App Store + Google Play

Reviews from the Apple App Store and Google Play in one format, tagged by what people complain about, plus a ready-made report per app. Use it to track your own app after each release, or to see what users hate about a competitor.

### What you get

- **Both stores, one format.** Rating, title, text, app version, date, country, helpful votes and developer reply.
- **Complaint topics on every review:** crashes and bugs, performance, login and account, pricing and subscriptions, ads, UI and UX, support, notifications, battery and data, sync and data loss, problems since an update, feature requests, privacy.
- **A report per app:**
  - average rating and star distribution
  - top complaints, with example reviews
  - top praise
  - rating by app version
  - which complaints rose or fell in the latest version compared with the one before
- **Only new reviews.** Schedule it daily with "Only new reviews since the last run" to get a feed of fresh reviews.
- **Reports only.** Turn off "Save individual reviews" if you only want the summary.

### Input

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Apps | `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/slack/id618783545`, `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Slack`, `618783545`, `com.Slack` |
| Max reviews per app | `500` (newest first) |
| Countries | `us`, `gb`, `in` |
| Star ratings | `1`, `2` to collect complaints only |
| Only reviews since | `2026-10-01` |

### Output

Each review:

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "store": "apple",
  "appName": "Slack",
  "rating": 1,
  "sentiment": "negative",
  "title": "Keeps logging me out",
  "text": "Since the last update it logs me out every day.",
  "topics": ["login_account", "update_regression"],
  "appVersion": "26.10.10",
  "date": "2026-10-15T09:12:00.000Z",
  "country": "us"
}
```

Each app report (`"type": "report"`) contains `averageRating`, `ratingDistribution`, `topComplaints`, `topPraise`, `versions` and `latestVersionChanges`, for example:

```json
"latestVersionChanges": {
  "from": "26.10.0",
  "to": "26.10.10",
  "averageRatingChange": -0.4,
  "complaintsRising": [{ "topic": "login_account", "before": 0.04, "after": 0.19, "change": 0.15 }],
  "complaintsFalling": [{ "topic": "performance", "before": 0.12, "after": 0.05, "change": -0.07 }]
}
```

Use the "Reviews" and "App reports" views in the Output tab to see each kind.

### Pricing

You pay per review saved and per app report. Filters run first, so reviews you filter out cost nothing.

### Good to know

- Apple's public review feed gives up to 500 recent reviews per country. Add more countries for more reviews.
- Topics are tagged with keyword rules, and sentiment comes from the star rating. This makes results fast, cheap and repeatable. It can miss sarcasm or unusual wording.
- A version is included in the version comparison once it has at least 10 reviews.
- Only public review data is read. No logins.
