## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Reviews Scraper: ratings, review text & app data

Get **Apple App Store reviews** for any iPhone/iPad app in **150+ countries**: star rating, review title, full text, app version, date and helpful votes, straight from **Apple's official public customer reviews feed**. Add App Store URLs, app IDs or just app names. Filter by stars, date or keywords, monitor new reviews daily, or get app details (average rating, rating count, version, price, developer). You pay only for the reviews you get.

**Why this one:** **$0.08 per 1,000 reviews**, below the cheapest App Store review scrapers on the Store ($0.10 per 1,000) and far below the $0.50–2 per 1,000 of most others. It uses Apple's official public feeds and the iTunes Search/Lookup API (no browser, no login), with automatic fallbacks when Apple's CDN is flaky, so runs are fast and reliable. Reviews removed by your filters, duplicates and already-seen reviews are **free**.

### Why this scraper

- **Any app, any country.** App Store URL, ID or name; one country, a list, or `all` App Store countries. Each country has its own reviews and language.
- **Up to ~1,000 reviews per app and country** with sort order *Both* (most recent + most helpful).
- **Filters that save money.** Star range (e.g. only 1–2 star complaints), reviews since a date, reviews containing words like *crash*, *login* or *subscription*. Filtered reviews are free.
- **Monitoring built in.** Turn on *Only new reviews* and schedule daily to get only new reviews, for example into Slack, Google Sheets or your support tool.
- **App details mode.** Average rating, rating count, current version and release date, release notes, price, genre, developer, size, languages, icon and screenshots.
- **Privacy-friendly.** Reviewer names and profile links are **not** collected, only the review content. Easier GDPR story for sentiment analysis and product research.
- **Fast.** Hundreds of reviews per second, 256 MB memory.

### What you get

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| appId, appName, developer | 570060128, Duolingo: Language Lessons, Duolingo |
| country, sort | us, mostrecent |
| reviewId, rating | 14635400058, 4 |
| title, text | Great for daily practice, I use it every day ... |
| appVersion, date | 7.142.0, 2026-10-06T18:47:19Z |
| voteSum, voteCount | 3, 4 |

App details mode: `name, averageRating, ratingCount, averageRatingCurrentVersion, version, currentVersionReleaseDate, releaseNotes, price, currency, primaryGenre, genres, developer, sellerUrl, contentRating, minimumOsVersion, fileSizeBytes, languages, description, iconUrl, screenshotUrls, url`.

### How to use

1. Add **apps**: App Store URLs, IDs or names.
2. Choose **countries** (default `us`; e.g. `us, gb, de, fr` or `all`).
3. Optional: **sort order**, **max reviews**, **star range**, **reviews since**, **keywords**.
4. Run and download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or use them via the API, webhooks or integrations (Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, n8n, Slack).

#### Example input

```json
{
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duolingo-language-lessons/id570060128", "Notion"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"],
  "sortBy": "both",
  "maxRating": 2,
  "reviewsSince": "2026-09-01"
}
```

#### Example output

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "appId": "570060128",
  "appName": "Duolingo: Language Lessons",
  "developer": "Duolingo",
  "country": "de",
  "sort": "mostrecent",
  "reviewId": "14635400058",
  "rating": 4,
  "title": "Sehr gut",
  "text": "Ich finde Duolingo ist wirklich super ...",
  "appVersion": "7.142.0",
  "date": "2026-10-06T18:47:19.000Z",
  "voteSum": 0,
  "voteCount": 0
}
```

### Monitoring new reviews

Set **Only new reviews** to true and add a schedule (for example daily). Each run returns only reviews not returned before for the same app, country and **State key**. The first run returns all matching reviews as the baseline.

### Run report

- **`APPS`**: details of every resolved app.
- **`REPORT`**: per app and country, reviews fetched and saved, and any error.
- **`SUMMARY`**: totals for the run.

### Pricing

Pay per event:

- **Review** (`review`): one charge per review saved to your dataset.
- **App details** (`app`): one charge per app and country in app details mode.
- **Free:** reviews removed by your filters, duplicates and already-seen reviews in monitoring mode.

See the *Pricing* tab for the current prices. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops gracefully when it is reached.

### Limitations

- Apple's public feed returns up to 500 reviews per app, country and sort order (10 pages of 50). For apps with many reviews, combine *Both* sort orders, several countries and a daily monitoring schedule to build a complete history over time.
- Ratings without text (star-only ratings) are not part of the feed; they are counted in `ratingCount` in app details mode.
- Reviewer names are intentionally not collected.
- Developer responses to reviews are not available in the public feed.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

This Actor works as a tool for AI agents through the **Apify MCP server** at `https://mcp.apify.com`. Connect Claude, Cursor, VS Code, n8n or any other MCP client to `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=tinyrex/app-store-reviews-scraper` and the agent can run it from a plain-language request, for example: *"Get the latest 1–2 star App Store reviews of Revolut in the UK and Germany and summarize the top complaints"*. Results come back as clean, structured JSON at the same pay-per-result price, and filtered reviews stay free.

### FAQ

**Is it legal?** The Actor reads Apple's public customer reviews feed and the public iTunes Search/Lookup API, which Apple provides for exactly this kind of access. It does not log in and does not collect reviewer names. Use the data in line with Apple's terms and your local laws.

**Does it work for Mac, iPad and Apple TV apps?** Yes, any app with an App Store ID.

**What about Google Play?** This Actor covers the Apple App Store only.
