## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## France Company Search: SIREN, SIRET lookup and French B2B lists from Sirene

**Look up French companies by SIREN, SIRET, VAT number or name, or build a B2B list of French companies by NAF code, department, postal code and headcount, in one run.** Use it for lead generation, CRM enrichment, KYC and supplier checks, market sizing and invoice validation. The Actor reads the official French government company search API (API Recherche d'entreprises by DINUM, the service behind annuaire-entreprises.data.gouv.fr), which combines the INSEE Sirene register and the national business register (RNE). Each row has the company name, SIREN and head-office SIRET, NAF activity code and label, legal form, size category, employee band, address with coordinates, intra-EU VAT number, latest revenue and net income when published, labels such as RGE or Qualiopi, and directors. **$1.50 per 1,000 companies; invalid numbers and searches with no match are free.** No API key, no login.

### What you get from France Company Search

- **Exact lookups.** SIREN (9 digits), SIRET (14 digits) or French VAT number (`FR27552032534`). Check digits are validated first, so typos come back as free rows instead of wrong companies. For a SIRET you also get that establishment's address and status.
- **Name matching.** Company names return the best match (or up to 25), ranked by company size by default, so "Michelin" gives the Michelin group company, not a one-person shop with the same name.
- **B2B lists with filters.** NAF/APE codes (for example `62.01Z` software, `43.21A` electricians), departments, postal codes, INSEE employee bands, SME/mid-size/large category, active only, plus optional free text. With a location filter you also get the local establishment that matched.
- **Directors and officers** from the RNE: name and role (and SIREN for corporate officers such as auditors). No birth dates.
- **Finances and labels:** latest published revenue (`chiffre d'affaires`) and net income, all published years, and flags like `rge`, `qualiopi`, `bio`, `ess`, `organisme_formation`, `finess`.
- **Clean, flat columns** that export straight to CSV or Excel, plus a link to the public Annuaire des Entreprises page for each company.

  "error": null
}
```
(Directors shortened here.) Free rows have `found: false` and the reason in `error`, for example `invalid SIREN (check digit fails)`.
### How to use it
1. Paste SIREN/SIRET numbers or company names into *SIREN, SIRET or company names*, one per line.
2. And/or fill the list filters: NAF codes, departments, postal codes, employee ranges, category.
3. Run, then export as CSV, Excel or JSON, or call it from the API, Make, n8n or Zapier.
**Example input: enrich a list of SIRENs and names**
```json
{
  "companies": ["552032534", "85520050700017", "Leroy Merlin", "Decathlon"],
  "includeDirectors": true
}
```
**Example input: software companies with 20 to 99 employees in the Lyon area**
```json
{
  "nafCodes": ["62.01Z", "62.02A"],
  "departments": ["69"],
  "employeeRanges": ["12", "21"],
  "activeOnly": true,
  "maxResults": 500
}
```
The API serves at most 10,000 companies per search, so for very large lists run one department at a time.
### Pricing
Pay per event: **$0.0015 per company returned ($1.50 per 1,000)**, cheaper on higher Apify plans. A company found by two inputs is charged once. Invalid SIREN/SIRET numbers, names or searches with no match and companies already returned in the run come back free (or are skipped). Set *Max companies* or a maximum charge per run to cap spend; the Actor stops cleanly at the limit and also stops before the run timeout, keeping everything it already saved.
### FAQ
**Where does the data come from, and can I reuse it?** From the official API Recherche d'entreprises run by the French government (DINUM), built on the INSEE Sirene register and the INPI national business register. The data is published as open data under the Licence Ouverte / Open Licence 2.0, which allows commercial reuse with attribution ("Source: Annuaire des Entreprises / Sirene, INSEE"). Companies that opted out of public listing (non-diffusibles) are not in the API.
**How do I find a company's SIREN from its name?** Put the name in the input. You get the best match with its SIREN, head-office SIRET and VAT number; raise *Results per company name* to see more candidates.
**Is the VAT number validated?** It is the standard French VAT number computed from the SIREN. It is not checked against the EU VIES service.
**What about personal data of directors?** Directors are published in the public register. The Actor returns only name and role, never birth dates. If you use names for outreach, you are the data controller under the GDPR and must have a lawful basis.
**How fresh is it?** The source updates daily from Sirene and the RNE; `lastUpdated` shows the last change for each company.
# Actor input Schema
## `companies` (type: `array`):
One per line: SIREN (9 digits), SIRET (14 digits), French VAT number (FR + 11 digits) for an exact lookup, or a company name for the best match. Invalid numbers and names with no match are free.
## `maxResultsPerName` (type: `integer`):
How many matches to return for each company name (best match first). SIREN/SIRET lookups always return one company.
## `preferLargest` (type: `boolean`):
Rank name matches by company size, so "Michelin" returns the Michelin group company instead of a one-person shop with the same name. Turn off for pure text relevance.
## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):
Optional free text for a list search (name, address, director). Combine with the filters below, or use the filters alone.
## `nafCodes` (type: `array`):
Activity codes, e.g. 62.01Z (software), 56.10A (restaurants), 43.21A (electricians). 6201Z also works.
## `departments` (type: `array`):
Department codes, e.g. 75 (Paris), 69 (Rhone), 13, 2A.
## `postalCodes` (type: `array`):
5-digit postal codes, e.g. 69002. Matches companies with an establishment there.
## `employeeRanges` (type: `array`):
INSEE headcount bands (tranche d'effectif).
## `companyCategories` (type: `array`):
INSEE size category.
## `activeOnly` (type: `boolean`):
Skip ceased companies in name lookups and list searches (SIREN/SIRET lookups always return the company).
## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):
Cap for the filtered search (the API serves at most 10,000 per search; split by department to get more).
## `includeDirectors` (type: `boolean`):
Directors and officers from the national register (RNE): name and role only, no birth dates.
