## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What this contact scraper does

Give it a list of websites and it returns the email addresses, phone numbers and social media profiles it finds on each one. It reads the homepage, then follows the links most likely to hold contact details: contact, about, team, imprint, legal and support pages.

You get one row per website. You are only charged for websites where at least one contact was found, so dead domains and sites with nothing listed cost you nothing.

### What you get for each website

- `emails`: addresses on the website's own domain or a free provider like Gmail or Outlook
- `otherEmails`: addresses on other domains, often agencies, partners or example text, kept separate so you can decide
- `phones`: from tel: links, structured data and international numbers in the page text
- Social profiles: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, GitHub, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp, Threads, Snapchat, Reddit and Bluesky
- `pagesCrawled`: the exact pages that were read

It also catches emails written as `name [at] domain [dot] com` and links encoded with `%40` or `@`.

### Typical uses

- Turn a list of company domains from Google Maps, a CRM export or a directory into a lead list
- Find the right social accounts for outreach or influencer research
- Enrich a spreadsheet of websites before importing it into HubSpot, Pipedrive or a cold email tool

### Input

Paste domains or URLs into Websites, one per line, or upload a file. "Max pages per website" controls how deep it goes. The default of 8 covers the homepage and the usual contact pages, which is enough for most small and mid-size business sites.

Some sites block automated requests. If you see many "unreachable" rows, switch on the proxy.

### Output example

Values are illustrative.

```json
{
 "url": "https://example-bakery.com/",
 "domain": "example-bakery.com",
 "emails": ["hello@example-bakery.com", "orders@example-bakery.com"],
 "otherEmails": [],
 "phones": ["+1 415 555 0134"],
 "facebook": ["https://facebook.com/examplebakery"],
 "instagram": ["https://instagram.com/examplebakery"],
 "linkedin": [],
 "pagesCrawled": ["https://example-bakery.com/", "https://example-bakery.com/contact"],
 "status": "ok"
}
```

`status` is `ok`, `no_contacts` (site worked, nothing found, not charged) or `failed` (site unreachable, not charged).

### Pricing

| Event | Charged when |
|---|---|
| `website` | a website returned at least one email, phone or social profile |

The price covers the whole website, however many pages were read.

### FAQ

#### Does it find personal emails that aren't on the website?

No. It only reports what the website itself publishes. It doesn't guess addresses or look them up in third-party databases.

#### Why is an email in otherEmails?

Its domain doesn't match the website and it isn't a free email provider. These are often agencies or web designers, and sometimes example text in a template.

#### Can I run it on thousands of websites?

Yes. It processes 10 websites in parallel by default, and you can raise that to 50.
