# Douyin Video Scraper (`toolzerhub/douyin-video-scraper`) Actor

Fetch public Douyin video data by URL or ID: full detail with caption, sound, hashtags, images and engagement stats, lightweight like/play/share/download counters for many videos at once, or the videos Douyin recommends alongside one. Export scraped data, run via API, or schedule recurring pulls.

## Pricing

from $2.40 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## Douyin Video Scraper

Fetch public Douyin video data three ways from one Actor: full detail for a video, lightweight engagement counters for many videos at once, or the videos Douyin recommends alongside a given one. `scraperType` picks the mode.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| `scraperType` | enum | `videoDetails` | `videoDetails`, `videoStatistics`, or `relatedVideos`. |
| `aweme_id` | string | — | A Douyin video URL or numeric ID. Required for `relatedVideos`. |
| `aweme_ids` | string | — | Several video IDs, comma-separated. `videoDetails` and `videoStatistics` only. |
| `maxItems` | integer | `100` | `relatedVideos` only — caps how many recommended videos are collected. |

```json
{ "scraperType": "videoStatistics", "aweme_ids": "7448118827402972455,7448118827402972456" }
```

### Output

| Field | Mode(s) | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| `aweme_id` | all | Video ID |
| `desc` | `videoDetails`, `relatedVideos` | Caption text |
| `create_time` | `videoDetails`, `relatedVideos` | Publish timestamp |
| `duration` | `videoDetails`, `relatedVideos` | Video length, milliseconds |
| `aweme_type` | `videoDetails` | Post type (video, image post, and so on) |
| `statistics` | `videoDetails`, `relatedVideos` | `digg_count`, `comment_count`, `share_count`, `collect_count` |
| `author` | `videoDetails`, `relatedVideos` | The account that published the video |
| `music`, `video`, `images` | `videoDetails` | Sound, media info, and image list |
| `text_extra`, `cha_list` | `videoDetails` | Hashtags and mentions parsed from the caption |
| `share_url` | `videoDetails`, `relatedVideos` | Public share link |
| `digg_count`, `play_count`, `share_count`, `download_count` | `videoStatistics` | Like, play, share, and download counts |
| `source_aweme_id` | `videoDetails` (single-ID mode), `relatedVideos` | The video this row was collected for |

### Questions

**Does passing several IDs in `aweme_ids` cost less than running them one by one?**
No. Every mode resolves a list as one request per ID, so a ten-ID run costs ten requests whichever way you split it. Passing a list saves you orchestrating the runs, nothing more.

**Why is `play_count` inside `statistics` showing 0 for a video I know has views?**
`videoDetails`' embedded `statistics.play_count` reads 0 on every video tested live, while `videoStatistics` returns the real number for the same video. Switch `scraperType` to `videoStatistics` when the play count matters — that is the reason to use it, not cost.

**Can `relatedVideos` return the same video twice, or fewer than `maxItems`?**
Both. It pages through Douyin's live "more like this" feed using a page counter, not a cursor, so pages can reshuffle and repeat a video between calls the same way the app itself does. It also stops as soon as Douyin reports no more items, which can happen before `maxItems` is reached.

**What happens to an invalid ID inside `aweme_ids`?**
It's logged and skipped, and the rest of the list still runs — in both `videoDetails` and `videoStatistics`. A run only fails outright when no ID in the list resolves, so check the row count against the IDs you passed rather than assuming a full set came back.

### Other Douyin Actors

| Actor | Use when |
|---|---|
| [Douyin Video Downloader](https://apify.com/toolzerhub/douyin-video-downloader) | You want a playable URL for a video, not its metadata |
| [Douyin Comments Scraper](https://apify.com/toolzerhub/douyin-comments-scraper) | You want a video's comment section |
| [Douyin Danmaku Scraper](https://apify.com/toolzerhub/douyin-video-danmaku-scraper) | You want the scrolling on-video comments instead |
| [Douyin Profile Videos Scraper](https://apify.com/toolzerhub/douyin-profile-videos-scraper) | You want every video from a profile, not one ID at a time |
| [Douyin Video Search Scraper](https://apify.com/toolzerhub/douyin-video-search-scraper) | You have a keyword, not yet a video ID |
