## Pricing

from $2.25 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Reddit Subreddit Info Scraper

Look up a subreddit's public profile by name. One row: its ID, title, creation date and the community fields Reddit publishes.

### Input

| Field | Use it for |
|---|---|
| **`subreddit_name`** | Subreddit name without `r/`, or a full subreddit URL. Required. |
| **`addonSubredditDetails`** | Adds `subreddit_detail` -- style, settings and highlights. Off by default. |

```json
{
  "subreddit_name": "dataisbeautiful",
  "addonSubredditDetails": true
}
```

### Output

One row per run.

| Field | Contents |
|---|---|
| **`subreddit_id`** | Reddit's subreddit ID |
| **`subreddit`** | The name you asked for |
| **`title`** | The subreddit's display title |
| **`created_at`** | When the subreddit was created |
| **`subreddit_detail`** | Style, settings and highlights. Only with **`addonSubredditDetails`** |

Everything else Reddit returns for the subreddit is kept on the row alongside those fields, so nothing published is discarded.

```json
{
  "subreddit_id": "t5_2tk95",
  "subreddit": "dataisbeautiful",
  "title": "Data Is Beautiful",
  "created_at": "2012-06-01T18:02:11.000Z"
}
```

### What the detail add-on actually fetches

Three separate lookups, run together and merged into `subreddit_detail`:

| Key | What it holds |
|---|---|
| `style` | Colours, banner and icon configuration |
| `settings` | The community's public configuration |
| `highlights` | Pinned and featured content |

`style` is looked up by subreddit **name**; `settings` and `highlights` are looked up by subreddit **ID**. That distinction matters in one case: if Reddit does not return an ID for the subreddit, only `style` can be fetched and the other two come back empty. The row still saves.

### Questions

**The add-on ran but `subreddit_detail` is missing. Why?**
All three lookups came back empty, so nothing was attached and nothing was charged. A private, quarantined or banned subreddit is the usual cause. If only some of the three failed, you get the ones that worked.

**Does this give me subscriber counts?**
Whatever Reddit publishes for that subreddit is on the row -- the Actor keeps the full response rather than narrowing it to a fixed column list. What Reddit reports varies by community and by how it is configured, so check the row rather than assuming a field is there.

**Can I look up several subreddits at once?**
No, one per run.

**Do I need this before scraping a subreddit's posts?**
No. The [Subreddit Posts Scraper](https://apify.com/toolzerhub/reddit-subreddit-posts-scraper) takes a name or URL directly. Use this one when you want the community's own metadata, not its content.
