## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LKQ Pick Your Part Junkyard Inventory Scraper – VIN, Row & Photos

Search **live LKQ Pick Your Part self-service junkyard inventory** (pyp.com) across ~60 US yards (California, Florida, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas, Nevada, Utah, Washington and more) in one run. For every matching donor car you get the **VIN, color, stock number, yard section / row / space, the date it was set out, and up to 10 photos**.

Pick Your Part's site searches one yard at a time and pages 25 cars at a time. This Actor searches many yards and search terms at once and exports to JSON, CSV, Excel, or an API.

### Use cases

- **Parts flippers & pullers:** find every donor car for the parts you resell, across your region.
- **New-arrival alerts:** schedule daily with `monitorMode` to get only cars that just hit the yard.
- **Market research:** count makes/models/years entering salvage yards over time.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| searchTerms | `["honda civic","2004 toyota"]` | Same as the site's search box. Empty = full yard inventory |
| locations | `["Tampa","1229","California"]` | City, store number, or state name. Empty = all yards |
| yearFrom / yearTo | `2000` / `2010` | Optional model-year range |
| newWithinDays | `7` | Only cars set out in the last N days (fast) |
| monitorMode | `true` | Only cars not seen in earlier runs |
| maxItems | `500` | 0 = unlimited |

### Tips & cost

- A typical yard has 1,000–2,000 cars; a full single-yard scan is ~60 lightweight HTTP requests. No browser, no proxy.
- Use `newWithinDays` or search terms to keep runs small.
- Data comes from Pick Your Part's public inventory search, with no login. Not affiliated with LKQ Corporation.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Free-text searches, same as the site's search box, e.g. "honda civic", "2004 toyota", "f-150". Leave empty to return the FULL inventory of each selected yard.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Yard city, store number, or state name (e.g. Tampa, 1229, California). Empty = all ~60 yards (large run).

## `yearFrom` (type: `integer`):

Optional minimum model year.

## `yearTo` (type: `integer`):

Optional maximum model year.

## `newWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

0 = no limit. Use 7 for a weekly new-arrivals list (fast: stops paging at older cars).

## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):

Remembers stock numbers in a named key-value store and outputs only new ones. Ideal for scheduled alerts.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

0 = unlimited.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": [
    "toyota camry"
  ],
  "locations": [
    "Tampa"
  ],
  "newWithinDays": 0,
  "monitorMode": false,
  "maxItems": 0
}
```
