## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## StepStone Scraper — Jobs, Salaries & Companies

Scrape job listings from **StepStone** by keyword and location, or from any StepStone search URL, on
**stepstone.de, stepstone.at and stepstone.be**, plus the UK sites that run on the same platform:
**totaljobs.com, cwjobs.co.uk, jobsite.co.uk and caterer.com**. For every job you get the title, company with logo
and company page, location, home-office flag, salary range (min / max / currency / period, and whether it is
StepStone's own estimate), the salary text the UK sites show, posted and expiry date, snippet, benefits, labels such
as "Schnelle Bewerbung" and the job URL. Optionally it opens each job for the **full description**, split into tasks,
requirements, offer and contact text, with contract type, working time, address and company facts.

No StepStone account, no cookies, no browser. Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or use the API.

### How to scrape StepStone jobs by keyword and location

1. Enter one or more **Keywords** (job title, skill or company) and a **Location**, and pick the **Site**
   (Germany by default).
2. Optionally set filters: radius, date posted (24 hours / 7 days), home office, full-time / part-time, contract type,
   minimum salary, sort by date.
3. Set **Max jobs** and run.

```json
{
  "keywords": ["data analyst", "controller"],
  "location": "Hamburg",
  "site": "de",
  "radius": 30,
  "datePosted": "7",
  "remote": "hybrid",
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

You can also paste search URLs with any filters you set on the site, company job lists and single job pages into
**Start URLs**, from any of the seven sites:

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    { "url": "https://www.stepstone.de/jobs/projektmanager/in-hamburg?radius=30&us=60000" },
### How many jobs can I get per search?
All of them. The actor pages through StepStone's own result list, 25 jobs per page, until the last real match: in
tests "all jobs in Hamburg" listed 10,678 matches over 428 pages and every page loaded. After the real matches
StepStone appends "similar" jobs (other job titles) and jobs outside your radius; those are skipped unless you turn on
**Include similar and nearby jobs**. Duplicates across searches are removed. Use **Max jobs per search** to spread the
budget over several keywords.
### Can I get the full job description and contact details?
Yes. Turn on **Include full job description**. The actor opens each job page and adds the full description (text and
HTML), the ad's sections (introduction, tasks, requirements, offer, contact text), any e-mail addresses printed in the
ad, contract type and working time, the workplace address, and the company card: rating, number of reviews, size,
industries, address, website and founding year. It is one extra request per job, charged as a separate `detail`
event. Ads that went offline in the meantime keep their card data and get a `detailError`.
### Is the salary real or an estimate?
On stepstone.de/.at/.be most jobs carry a salary range that StepStone itself estimates for full-time work; the site
shows it as "geschätzt für Vollzeit". Those have `salaryIsEstimate: true`. When the employer states a salary it
appears with `salaryIsEstimate: false`. The UK sites show the employer's own salary line, which is kept as
`salaryText` and parsed into min / max / period / currency (`Up to £65,000` -> max 65000, year, GBP).
### Does it work without login? Which StepStone sites are supported?
It works without any login or cookies and reads only what any visitor sees. Supported: stepstone.de, stepstone.at,
stepstone.be (English, French and Dutch URLs) and the UK StepStone brands totaljobs.com, cwjobs.co.uk, jobsite.co.uk
and caterer.com. stepstone.nl runs on a different platform and is not supported.
### Monitor changes on a schedule
Turn on **Only new or changed items** to watch a search: each run remembers what earlier runs returned and outputs
only jobs that are new or whose title or salary changed. Unchanged jobs are dropped before any job page is opened, so
they are not charged. **Max jobs** then sets how many jobs are checked per run; sort by date so the newest jobs land
in that window. Save the input as a task and add a Schedule in Apify (for example daily); give each watch its own
**Monitoring key** if several schedules use the same search. Every output item has `changeType` (`new` or `changed`),
and changed jobs have `previousValues` with the old values, e.g. `{"salaryMin": 52000}`.
### Pricing
Pay per job: **$0.0007 per job** ($0.70 per 1,000). With **Include full job description** each job page read adds
**$0.0005** ($1.20 per 1,000 jobs with descriptions). Ads that are offline are not charged the detail event. No start
fee and no subscription.
### Proxy note and cost
Searches go through Apify's default datacenter proxy: each page of 25 jobs is a small JSON answer (about 28 KB).
Measured on the platform, 1,000 jobs from one search cost about **$0.007 of platform usage** (compute and dataset
writes) on top of the per-job price. Job pages are protected more strictly: those the datacenter IP cannot open are
retried through a residential IP in Germany (about 0.1 MB each, roughly $0.0008). In tests about half of the job
pages needed that, so 1,000 jobs with descriptions add about $0.40-0.55 of usage. Blocked answers are retried on new IPs automatically.
### Is it legal to scrape StepStone?
The actor reads only public pages that anyone can open without an account: job ads as employers publish them,
company names and logos, StepStone's salary estimates and company ratings. It does not log in and does not collect
job seekers' data. Job ads sometimes name a contact person or an application e-mail address; that is part of the
public ad. You are responsible for using the data in line with StepStone's terms and the privacy laws that apply to
you (for example GDPR when you process personal data from ads).
# Actor input Schema
## `keywords` (type: `array`):
One search per keyword, e.g. "software engineer", "Pflegefachkraft", "Buchhalter". Leave empty and set a location to list every job there.
## `location` (type: `string`):
City, region or postcode as you would type it on the site, e.g. "Berlin", "Frankfurt am Main", "Wien", "London". Leave empty to search the whole country.
## `site` (type: `string`):
Which StepStone site to search for the keywords. Totaljobs, CWJobs, Jobsite and Caterer.com (UK) run on the same platform. Start URLs can point at any of them.
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
Optional: search URLs with any filters you set on the site (e.g. https://www.stepstone.de/jobs/data-analyst/in-hamburg?radius=30\&wfh=2), company job lists (/cmp/...) or single job pages. Works for stepstone.de/.at/.be, totaljobs.com, cwjobs.co.uk, jobsite.co.uk and caterer.com.
## `radius` (type: `integer`):
Search radius in km (miles on the UK sites). Empty = the site's default (30 km on StepStone).
## `datePosted` (type: `string`):
Only jobs published in the last 24 hours or the last 7 days.
## `remote` (type: `string`):
Only fully remote jobs ("Nur Home-Office"), or only jobs with partial home office ("Teilweise Home-Office", StepStone sites only).
## `workType` (type: `string`):
Full-time or part-time jobs (the UK sites have a part-time filter only).
## `contractType` (type: `string`):
The site's contract type filter. Student jobs, trainee and temp agency exist on stepstone.de/.at only; the UK sites offer permanent, temporary and contract (freelance).
## `minSalary` (type: `integer`):
StepStone's salary filter (stepstone.de/.at/.be), e.g. 50000. StepStone matches it against stated and estimated salaries.
## `sort` (type: `string`):
Relevance (the site's default) or newest first.
## `includeSimilarJobs` (type: `boolean`):
After the real matches, StepStone lists "similar" jobs (other titles) and jobs outside your radius. Off by default: only real matches are saved. Turn on to save those too (they carry resultSection = semantic / regional).
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Open each job page for the full description (tasks, requirements, offer, contact text), contract and working-time type, address and company facts (rating, size, industry). One extra request per job, charged as a separate 'detail' event.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many jobs in total (you pay per job saved).
## `maxItemsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):
Optional cap for each keyword / start URL, so one search does not use the whole Max jobs budget.
## `onlyNewOrChanged` (type: `boolean`):
Remember what earlier runs of this search returned and output only new jobs or jobs whose title or salary changed. Use with a Schedule; unchanged jobs are not charged. With this on, Max jobs is the number of jobs checked per run; sort by date to watch the newest jobs.
## `monitoringKey` (type: `string`):
Name for this watch, so several schedules on the same search stay separate; defaults to a key derived from the search input
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Apify's default datacenter proxy works for searches (about 28 KB per page of 25 jobs). Job pages (Include full job description) that the datacenter IP cannot open are retried once through a residential IP in Germany (about 0.1 MB each) when your account has residential proxy access.
