## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## USDA Organic Certified Operations Leads

**USDA organic certified operations**: newly certified and recently updated organic businesses from the public Organic INTEGRITY Database, with certifier, scopes, products, status date, city, state and a flag for operations not in the previous snapshot.

Get a clean list of USDA organic certified businesses from the public Organic INTEGRITY Database export. Each row has the operation name, operation ID, certification status and the date it took effect, the certifying agent, the certified scopes (crops, livestock, wild crops, handling), the certified products, the types of business (dairy, distributor, co-packer and more), certified acres, city, state, country and a link to the operation's INTEGRITY profile. A flag shows operations that were not in the previous snapshot, so you can find first-time listings. The data is business-level only. Contact names, phone numbers, emails and street addresses are not read or returned.

### What is USDA Organic Certified Operations Leads?

Find newly certified and recently updated USDA organic businesses from the public Organic INTEGRITY Database: operation, certifier, scopes, products, status date, city, state and a new-registration flag. No login, no personal data. Run it from the Apify Console, the API or a schedule, and export the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML.

### Why use it

- **Public-domain USDA source.** The data is the Organic INTEGRITY export published by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.
- **Business data only.** Personal contact columns are not part of the files this Actor reads.
- **Built for lead work.** Newest first, filters for state, scope and product, and a new-to-registry flag.

### Output

One row per operation:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `operationName`, `operationId`, `otherNames` | The business, its USDA operation ID and any former names. |
| `certificationStatus`, `statusEffectiveDate`, `daysSinceStatusChange` | Current status, when it took effect (ISO date) and how many days ago. |
| `isNewToRegistry` | True when the operation was not in the previous snapshot. Empty if that snapshot could not be read. |
| `certifier`, `certifierClientId` | The certifying agent and its client ID for the operation. |
| `nopAnniversaryDate` | Annual anniversary date of the certification. |
| `certifiedScopes`, `scopeStatus` | Scopes with a Certified status, and the status of each scope. |
| `certifiedProducts`, `operationTypes`, `totalCertifiedAcres` | Products by scope, business types and certified acres when reported. |
| `city`, `state`, `stateCode`, `county`, `zip`, `country` | Physical location. |
| `integrityUrl`, `dataAsOf`, `snapshotDate`, `scrapedAt` | Profile link, record date, snapshot date and when the run read the data. |

  "country": "United States",
  "integrityUrl": "https://organic.ams.usda.gov/integrity/CP/OPP?cid=88&nopid=1234567890"
}
```
### Input
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `sinceDays` | Keep operations whose status took effect in the last N days. Default `90`. Use `0` for no limit. |
| `certificationStatus` | `Certified` (default), `Suspended`, `Surrendered`, `Revoked` or `Any`. |
| `states` | Optional US state codes or names, for example `MI`, `Ohio`. |
| `countries` | Optional country names, for example `United States`, `Mexico`. |
| `scopes` | Optional: `CROPS`, `LIVESTOCK`, `WILD CROPS`, `HANDLING`. |
| `productContains` | Optional text in the certified products, for example `blueberries`. |
| `nameContains`, `certifierContains` | Optional text in the operation name or certifier. |
| `onlyNewToRegistry` | Keep only operations missing from the previous snapshot. |
| `maxItems` | Stop after this many rows, newest first. Default `100`. |
Sample input:
```json
{
  "sinceDays": 120,
  "certificationStatus": "Certified",
  "states": ["MI", "OH"],
  "scopes": ["HANDLING"],
  "maxItems": 200
}
```
### Pricing
Pay per event. You pay a small fixed amount per operation row delivered, listed on the Pricing tab, plus a tiny start fee per run. You can set a maximum cost per run in the run options.
### What does this Actor do?
It downloads the latest public INTEGRITY snapshot of about 79,000 organic operations, filters it with the options you choose, sorts the newest status changes first and writes one row per operation. It also compares with the previous snapshot to mark operations that are new to the registry. The source is USDA Agricultural Marketing Service data, which is public domain. The files used are a copy of the USDA export with personal contact columns already removed, hosted on Zenodo. This is an independent tool and not an official USDA product.
**Run in 30 seconds**
1. Open the Actor and press **Try for free** (a free Apify account is enough).
2. Keep the prefilled input (status Certified, changed in the last 90 days, 100 rows) and press **Start**.
3. Open the **Output** tab. Use the table view or download CSV, Excel or JSON.
### Use cases
- Build prospect lists of new organic growers, processors and distributors for packaging, equipment, insurance, lending or software sales.
- Track new organic certifications by state, product or certifier each month to size a market or spot supply growth.
- Check that a supplier or co-packer is currently certified for the scope and products you buy, and see when its status changed.
- Feed rows into an n8n, Make or Zapier workflow that adds new certified operations to a CRM and scores them by scope and acreage.
### Limits
- Data comes from periodic snapshots and may lag the live INTEGRITY Database.
- Fewer rows than `maxItems` means fewer operations match your filters. Widen the days, drop the state or scope filter, or set status to Any.
- The `isNewToRegistry` flag depends on the previous snapshot being available and says nothing about operations that left and returned.
- Not legal or compliance advice. Confirm certification with the certifier or the USDA before relying on it.
### FAQ
**How fresh is the data?**
The Actor reads the newest snapshot available. Snapshots are periodic, not live, so very recent certifications can be missing. Each row shows `snapshotDate` and `dataAsOf`.
**Does a status date mean the business is new?**
No. The date is when the current status took effect, which can also be a renewal or reinstatement. Use `isNewToRegistry` to find operations missing from the previous snapshot.
**Do you provide emails or phone numbers?**
No. Personal contact details are not included. Use the INTEGRITY profile link for the official listing.
**Is this an official USDA product?**
No. It is an independent tool that reads public USDA data. Check organic.ams.usda.gov for authoritative records.
**Did this actor do the job?** If it saved you time, a short honest review on the [Reviews tab](https://apify.com/transparent_meteorite/usda-organic-certified-operations/reviews) helps other people judge it. If something was off, open an Issue on this page with the input you used. I read every one and fix real bugs, usually the same day.
**This Actor vs scrapesage/us-organic-operations-scraper:** that one returns contact names, phones and emails. This one is business-level only, with no contact details, and flags first-time listings so you can find newly certified operations.
