## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Company Enrichment API: Domain to Company Profile

### Use when…

- A sales, CRM or research agent has a website domain and needs the company behind it.
- You want name, description, logo, social profiles, public contacts and Wikidata facts (HQ, founded, industry) in one call.
- You need lightweight enrichment from public sources only, with no personal data brokers.

### Try this input

Copy-paste this JSON as the Actor input (it matches a successful run):

```json
{"requests": ["notion.so"]}
```

### Sample output (real run 2026-10-28)

One dataset item, shortened:

```json
{
  "domain": "notion.so",
  "website": "https://www.notion.com/",
  "reachable": true,
  "name": "Notion",
  "description": "Build Custom Agents, search across all your apps, and automate busywork. …",
  "logo": "https://www.notion.com/front-static/logo-ios.png",
  "language": "en-us",
  "socials": {
    "linkedin": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/notionhq/",
    "x": "https://twitter.com/NotionHQ",
    "…": "+3 more keys"
  },
  "emails": [],
  "phones": [],
  "address": null,
  "careers_page": null,
  "tech_hints": ["Contentful", "Next.js", "Cloudflare", "Vercel"],
  "wikidata": {
    "wikidata_id": "Q89269703",
    "headquarters": ["San Francisco"],
    "founded": "2016",
    "employees": null,
    "…": "+9 more keys"
  },
  "domain_registered": null,
  "error": null
}
```

Sales and research agents start from a website. One call returns who the company is and how to reach them, from public sources only.

- From the website: name, description, logo/icon, OpenGraph image, language, **social profiles** (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, GitHub...), public emails and phones, schema.org address
- Links to **contact, about and careers** pages
- From **Wikidata**: country, headquarters, industry, founded year, employees, ticker, LEI
- **Domain registration date** (RDAP)
- Technology hints (CMS, e-commerce, analytics)

### Input

```json
{"requests": ["notion.so", {"domain": "https://www.ocado.com"}]}
```

Send many items in `requests` per run (cheaper and faster than one run each).

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.003 per company enrichment** (one domain enriched). Rows with errors are not charged.

### Sources and licences

The company's own public homepage (one page per domain, robots-friendly). Wikidata (CC0). RDAP registry data via rdap.org. No personal data brokers are used.

### Limits & failure modes

- Only one page per domain (the homepage) is read, so contact/about/careers links, emails and phones appear only if the homepage shows them; many sites return empty `emails`/`phones`.
- Emails and phones are the public ones the company publishes, not personal contacts.
- Wikidata fields are often empty or null for smaller companies (e.g. `country`, `industry`, `employees`).
- `domain_registered` can be null when the registry does not expose RDAP data for that TLD.
- Sites that block bots or are down return `reachable: false` or an `error`; error rows are not charged.
- Tech hints are heuristic fingerprints, not a full technology audit.

**Last tested: 28 Oct 2026, run OK** (`notion.so`, Apify cloud).

### Use from AI agents (MCP)

Add it to any MCP client via `https://mcp.apify.com?actors=tudorlane/company-from-domain`, or call the Apify API / run-sync endpoint.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "requests": [
        {
            "domain": "stripe.com"
        },
        {
            "domain": "python.org"
        }
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("tudorlane/company-from-domain").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
