## Pricing

$3.00 / 1,000 macro lookups

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Macro Data API: Inflation, GDP, Unemployment by Country

**Use when:** a finance or research agent needs clean headline macro numbers by country (IMF World Economic Outlook, with projections) or an inflation calculation ("what is $100 from 2000 worth now?"), without parsing IMF/World Bank files.

**Try this input** (also the default, just click Start)

```json
{"requests": ["United Kingdom", {"action": "inflation", "country": "US", "amount": 100, "from_year": 2000}]}
```

**Sample output** (real run, 3 Nov 2026, trimmed)

```json
{"action": "indicators", "country": "GBR", "indicators": {"inflation_pct": {"2024": 2.5, "2025": 3.4, "2026": 3.3, "2027": 2.8},
  "gdp_growth_pct": {"2025": 1.2, "2026": 1.3}, "unemployment_pct": {"2025": 4.9, "2026": 5.3}, "gov_debt_pct_gdp": {"2026": 102}},
 "note": "IMF World Economic Outlook: years after the latest actual are IMF projections.", "error": null}
{"action": "inflation", "country": "USA", "amount": 100, "from_year": 2000, "to_year": 2024, "value": 182.17, "cumulative_inflation_pct": 82.17, "avg_annual_pct": 2.53, "error": null}
```

**Options**

- Country as ISO2, ISO3 or English name. `years`: \[from, to] (default last 3 years to next year).
- `action: "inflation"` with `amount`, `from_year`, optional `to_year` (World Bank CPI).

Indicators: inflation %, real GDP growth %, unemployment %, GDP (US$ bn), GDP per capita, government debt % GDP, current account % GDP, population (m). No API key needed.

**Pricing:** pay per event, **$0.003 per macro lookup** (one country, or one inflation calculation). Rows with errors are not charged. No subscription.

### Limits & failure modes

- Annual data only; IMF forecasts are revised in April and October and future years are projections.
- Inflation calculator ends at the latest World Bank CPI year (2024 in testing), not today.
- Sources: IMF DataMapper ("Source: IMF"), World Bank WDI (CC BY 4.0).

Last tested: 3 Nov 2026.

### Use from AI agents (MCP)

- **Apify MCP server:** add `https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=tudorlane/macro-indicators` to Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code or any MCP client.
- **REST:** `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/tudorlane~macro-indicators/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN` with the input JSON.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
