## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## ALDI Scraper

ALDI Scraper collects ALDI product prices from five ALDI websites in one run: aldi.com.au, aldi.us, aldi.co.uk, aldi.ie and aldi-sued.de. Search by keyword or paste ALDI category, search or product URLs, and get the price, was-price, saving, Special Buys date, unit price, category, brand and pack size in the same fields for every country. Built for ALDI price tracking, supermarket price comparison and specials monitoring. No login, account or API key.

### What you get

One row per product, with:

- **Store and product:** store, country, currency, ALDI product ID, name, brand, pack size, category path, image and product URL
- **Price:** current shelf price, was-price (only when ALDI shows a higher previous price), special flag and promotion text such as "Save 37%"
- **Special Buys:** the Special Buys or ALDI Finds date text, such as "While Stocks Last", where ALDI shows one
- **Unit price:** ALDI's comparison price text (for example "£3.50/1 KG"), plus the value and measure as separate fields so you can sort by value
- **Other:** bottle deposit, availability, ALDI's product badges (for example "Kühlung" for chilled on aldi-sued.de)
- `loyaltyPrice` and `barcode` are always `null`. ALDI has no loyalty-card prices and doesn't publish barcodes on these sites. The fields stay so ALDI rows line up with other supermarket datasets.

### Use cases

- **ALDI price tracking:** follow a list of products or whole categories on a schedule.
- **Specials and price-drop monitoring:** catch was-prices, savings and Special Buys.
- **Cross-country price comparison:** run the same search term in AU, US, UK, IE and DE and get one dataset.
- **Supermarket price comparison:** merge with Coles, Woolworths, Sainsbury's or other grocery data.
- **Unit price and private-label research:** compare price per 100 g, per litre or per kg across ALDI brands.

### Supported sites

| Country | Site | Search terms | Category URLs | Product URLs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Australia | aldi.com.au | yes | yes | yes |
| United Kingdom | aldi.co.uk | yes | yes | yes |
| Ireland | aldi.ie | yes | yes | yes |
| Germany (ALDI SÜD) | aldi-sued.de | yes | yes | yes |
| United States | aldi.us | yes | no | no |

ALDI Nord (aldi-nord.de), Hofer (AT/SI), ALDI Suisse and other countries are not supported.

### How to use

1. Open the Actor in Apify Console.
2. Pick one or more **Countries** and add **Search terms** such as `milk` or `coffee pods`. Each term runs in every selected country.
3. Or paste ALDI **category, search or product URLs**. Each URL goes to the site it belongs to.
4. Turn on **Only specials** if you want discounted items and Special Buys only, and set the max products per search term or URL.
5. Click **Start**. Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them through the Apify API.

### Input example

```json
{
  "countries": ["au", "us", "uk"],
  "searchTerms": ["milk", "coffee pods"],
  "startUrls": [
    "https://www.aldi.com.au/products/dairy-eggs-fridge/k/960000000",
  ],
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

`maxItems` applies to each search term or URL in each country. Supported URL formats:

```
https://www.aldi.com.au/results?q=milk
https://www.aldi.com.au/products/dairy-eggs-fridge/k/960000000
### Pricing
You pay per product saved to the dataset. Pages with no products, errors and duplicates (the same product found by two search terms) cost nothing. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify Console, and the Actor stops cleanly when it reaches that limit.
### FAQ
**Is it legal to scrape ALDI?** The Actor collects only public product and price information that anyone can see without logging in, and no personal data. Check ALDI's terms and your local law for your use case.
**Do I need an ALDI account?** No. The Actor never logs in and never asks for credentials.
**Why do I need a residential proxy?** ALDI sites use Akamai and Cloudflare bot protection that blocks many datacenter IPs and bursts of requests. The default is Apify Residential proxy. If you leave the proxy country empty, the Actor uses an IP from each site's own country, which is the most reliable setup.
**Are aldi.us prices the same as in store?** Not always. aldi.us prices come from ALDI's online shop (run by Instacart) for the delivery area the site assigns to the visitor's IP. They can differ from in-store prices and between areas, and you can't pick a ZIP code yet.
**How many US products can I get per search?** As many as the aldi.us search returns for the term, usually about 100 to 150. US category and product URLs are not supported.
**Why is `available` usually null outside the US?** aldi.com.au, aldi.co.uk, aldi.ie and aldi-sued.de show national online prices but no stock, so `available` is `null` unless ALDI marks a product discontinued.
**Does "Only specials" apply to product URLs?** No. It filters search and category results. A product URL you paste always returns that product.
**Can I merge the data with Coles, Woolworths or Sainsbury's?** Yes. The output fields (`store`, `country`, `price`, `wasPrice`, `unitPrice`, `size`, `category`, `url` and more) match our other supermarket scrapers.
**What if a run returns no products?** ALDI can change its sites without notice. Open an issue with the run link.
# Actor input Schema
## `countries` (type: `array`):
Which ALDI websites to run the search terms against. URLs always go to the site they belong to.
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
Keywords, e.g. milk, coffee pods, chocolate. Each term is searched in every selected country.
## `startUrls` (type: `array`):
ALDI URLs, e.g. https://www.aldi.com.au/products/dairy-eggs-fridge/k/960000000, https://www.aldi.co.uk/results?q=cheese, https://www.aldi-sued.de/produkt/milsani-frische-vollmilch-3-5-1-l-000000000330654001, https://www.aldi.us/store/aldi/s?k=eggs
## `onlySpecials` (type: `boolean`):
Keep only products with a was-price / saving, or ALDI Special Buys (ALDI Finds) with a sale date.
## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of results to return. See the README for whether this applies per search or to the whole run.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
ALDI sites use Akamai / Cloudflare bot protection. With RESIDENTIAL and no country set, the Actor picks the right country for each site automatically.
