## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Ashby Jobs Scraper

Ashby Jobs Scraper collects job postings from Ashby job boards (`jobs.ashbyhq.com`) for one company or hundreds in a single run. Each job comes with title, department, team, locations, remote or hybrid status, employment type, salary range when the company publishes it, publish date, full description and apply link. Built for job aggregators, salary research and startup hiring intelligence. No login, API key or browser.

### What you get

One row per job, with:

- **Job:** Ashby job ID, title, department, team, employment type (FullTime, PartTime, Intern, Contract, Temporary), publish date
- **Location:** primary and secondary locations, the structured address (city, region, country), workplace type (Remote, Hybrid, OnSite) and a remote flag
- **Salary:** minimum, maximum, currency and pay interval, plus Ashby's summary line, for example "$211.4K – $290.6K • Offers Equity"
- **Description:** full text as plain text and as HTML (you can turn this off for smaller output)
- **Links:** job page URL and application URL
- **Company:** the Ashby board name, for example `ramp`

### Use cases

- **Job aggregators:** refresh openings from fast-growing startups every day. Many of them hire through Ashby.
- **Salary research:** collect published pay ranges by role, team and location.
- **Recruiting and sales intelligence:** see who's hiring for which teams, and where.
- **Portfolio and sector tracking:** follow hiring across a VC portfolio or an industry.
- **Job search:** watch a list of target startups for new remote roles.

### How to use

1. Open the Actor in Apify Console.
2. Add **Companies** as Ashby board names (`ramp`) or URLs (`https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/linear`). The board name is the part after `jobs.ashbyhq.com/` in a company's job link.
3. Optionally filter by title keywords, locations, departments or teams, employment types, or remote only.
4. Set the max jobs per company and in total.
5. Click **Start**. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the Apify API.

### Input example

```json
{
  "companies": ["ramp", "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/linear", "notion"],
  "keywords": [],
  "locations": ["Remote", "New York"],
  "departments": ["Engineering"],
  "employmentTypes": ["FullTime"],
  "remoteOnly": false,
  "includeDescription": true,
  "maxJobsPerCompany": 0,
  "maxItems": 1000
}
```

Filters are case-insensitive "contains any" matches. Leave a filter empty to keep everything. `maxJobsPerCompany: 0` means no per-company limit. Board names verified to work: `openai`, `notion`, `linear`, `ramp`.

### Output example

A real item (description shortened):

```json
{
  "ats": "ashby",
  "title": "Security Engineer, Cloud",
  "department": "Engineering",
  "team": "Backend",
  "locations": ["New York, NY (HQ)", "Remote (Canada)", "Remote (US)", "Miami, FL"],
  "address": { "addressRegion": "NY", "addressCountry": "USA", "addressLocality": "New York City" },
  "workplaceType": "Hybrid",
  "isRemote": true,
  "employmentType": "FullTime",
  "compensation": { "min": 211400, "max": 290600, "currency": "USD", "interval": "year", "summary": "$211.4K – $290.6K • Offers Equity" },
  "postedAt": "2026-04-07T17:12:35.753+00:00",
  "descriptionText": "ABOUT RAMP\n\nRamp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams...",
  "descriptionHtml": "<p>...",
  "jobUrl": "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/ramp/34413f8d-26bf-4bbc-8ade-eb309a0e2245",
  "applyUrl": "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/ramp/34413f8d-26bf-4bbc-8ade-eb309a0e2245/application"
}
```

### Pricing

You pay per job saved to the dataset. A board name that doesn't exist produces an error row, which costs nothing. Set a maximum cost per run in Apify Console, and the Actor stops cleanly when it reaches that limit.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape Ashby job boards?** The Actor uses Ashby's public job posting API, which serves the same data each company shows on its `jobs.ashbyhq.com` page. It collects listed, public postings only. You are responsible for using the data in line with Ashby's and each employer's terms and the laws that apply to you.

**Do I need an Ashby account, API key or proxy?** No. The API is public, so the proxy is off by default. The Actor makes one request per company, even for boards with 800+ jobs.

**Why is `company` the board name and not the company's display name?** Ashby's public API doesn't return the display name.

**Why is `compensation` null for some jobs?** Not every company shows pay on its Ashby postings. When it does, you get the salary figures and the full summary. Equity and bonus appear only in `summary`, since `min` and `max` come from the salary component.

**Is there an "updated" date?** No. The public API gives the publish date (`postedAt`) only.

**Does it work for companies with a custom careers domain?** Yes, if Ashby powers the page and you know the board name. Look for `jobs.ashbyhq.com/<name>` in the apply link.

**Does it open individual job pages?** No. The data is exactly what the API returns. Only companies that use Ashby, and only their listed postings, are covered.
