## Pricing

from $0.21 / 1,000 feed items

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RSS & Atom Feed Reader — many feeds, one clean list

**For marketers, researchers and developers who follow many blogs and news sites.** Fetch **many RSS / Atom feeds
at once** and get one tidy list of articles — for news monitoring, newsletters, content collection or as input for
AI pipelines. **$0.30 per 1,000 items**; an empty input runs a free demo.

- Supports **RSS 2.0, Atom 1.0 and RSS 1.0 (RDF)**
- **Auto-discovery**: give a website URL and the feed is found from the page's `<link rel="alternate">` tag
- Dates normalized to **ISO 8601 UTC**; summaries converted to plain text; optional full content
- Filters: **keywords** (title/summary), **published within N days**, max items per feed
- **Deduplication** across feeds by guid / link
- Reads **feeds only** (files published for machine reading) — it does not scrape pages
- Gentle on servers: usually 1 request per feed (2 when a feed has to be discovered from a page); failed requests are retried once, so at most 4 requests per feed plus redirects. Max 3 in parallel, 0.3 s between requests
- Safe by design: hosts that resolve to internal addresses (localhost, private ranges, link-local such as 169.254.169.254) are never contacted, including redirect targets; such feeds are reported as `blocked_private_address` and not charged
- **$0.30 per 1,000 items** (an empty input runs a free demo)

### Use cases

- Competitor and industry news monitor on a schedule
- Weekly newsletter or digest source list
- Feed articles to an LLM or vector store (see keyword and date filters)

### Input

```json
{ "feeds": ["https://blog.apify.com/rss/", "https://www.python.org"], "maxItemsPerFeed": 50,
  "publishedWithinDays": 7, "keywords": ["python", "ai"], "dedupe": true, "includeContent": false }
```

### Output

```json
{ "feedUrl": "https://blog.apify.com/rss/", "feedTitle": "Apify Blog", "title": "Example post",
  "link": "https://blog.apify.com/example/", "guid": "abc123", "published": "2026-10-01T09:30:00Z",
  "updated": null, "summary": "Plain-text summary...", "categories": ["news"],
  "enclosureUrl": null }
```

`content` is added when **Include full content** is on. Author names are not included (no personal data). A per-feed summary (items found, errors, `no_feed_found`) is saved as `SUMMARY`.
Content belongs to each feed's publisher; check their terms before republishing.

# Actor input Schema

## `feeds` (type: `array`):

RSS / Atom feed URLs, or website URLs (the feed is auto-discovered from the page's <link rel="alternate"> tag). Leave empty to run a free demo (not charged).

## `maxItemsPerFeed` (type: `integer`):

Keep at most this many of the newest items from each feed. Minimum 1 (default 50).

## `publishedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Keep only items published in the last N days. Items without a date are dropped when this is set. Minimum 1. Empty = no date filter.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep only items whose title or summary contains at least one of these words (case-insensitive). Leave empty to keep all.

## `dedupe` (type: `boolean`):

Drop items that appear more than once across feeds (same guid or link).

## `includeContent` (type: `boolean`):

Add the article body (HTML as given by the feed) in the content field, when the feed provides it.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "feeds": [
    "https://blog.apify.com/rss/"
  ],
  "maxItemsPerFeed": 50,
  "dedupe": true,
  "includeContent": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One item per article: title, link, published (UTC), feedTitle, summary, content (if requested), categories.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Record SUMMARY: per-feed status and errors.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "feeds": [
        "https://blog.apify.com/rss/"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("ucchiii/rss-feed-reader").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
