## Pricing

from $0.21 / 1,000 url checkeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## URL Status Checker — bulk HTTP status & redirect checker

**For SEO teams and web developers who need to verify a long list of URLs.** Get the HTTP status, the **full redirect
chain**, the final URL and the response time for each — for **site migrations** (verify your 301 map), SEO audits and
**broken-link checks**. **$0.30 per 1,000 URLs checked.** Leave the input empty for a free demo.

### Use cases

- Verify a 301 redirect map after a migration

- Find broken links (404, DNS failures, timeouts) in a URL list or sitemap export

- Detect redirect chains and loops, and http-to-https redirects

- Checks **only the URLs you provide** — it does not crawl pages or follow links

- Redirects are followed manually (up to 10) and every hop is recorded: `redirectChain`

- Tries `HEAD` first and falls back to `GET` when the server answers 405/501

- DNS failures, timeouts and connection errors are reported as `error` (status `null`) instead of failing the run

- Input as a list, or from another Actor's **dataset** (choose the URL field)

- Polite by design: max 2 connections per host, at least 0.2 s between requests to the same host, up to 100,000 URLs per run

- Status counts are saved as `SUMMARY` in the key-value store

- Rows that never reach the network (`invalid_url`, `blocked_private_address`) are **not charged**. Free demo on empty input (not charged)

- Safe by design: URLs that resolve to internal addresses (localhost, private ranges, link-local such as 169.254.169.254, IPv6 loopback/unique-local) are never contacted, including redirect targets — reported as `blocked_private_address`

### Input

```json
{ "urls": ["https://example.com/old-page", "http://example.com"], "followRedirects": true, "timeoutSecs": 15, "concurrency": 5 }
```

Or `{ "datasetId": "<dataset id>", "urlField": "url" }`.

### Output

```json
{
  "url": "http://example.com/old", "finalUrl": "https://example.com/new", "statusCode": 301, "finalStatusCode": 200,
  "ok": true, "redirectCount": 2,
  "redirectChain": [{"url": "http://example.com/old", "status": 301}, {"url": "https://example.com/old", "status": 301}, {"url": "https://example.com/new", "status": 200}],
  "isHttpsRedirect": true, "responseTimeMs": 412, "contentType": "text/html; charset=utf-8", "contentLength": null,
  "error": null, "checkedAt": "2026-10-18T09:00:00+00:00"
}
```

`ok` is true when the final status is 2xx. For unreachable URLs `statusCode` and `finalStatusCode` are `null` and `error`
is e.g. `dns_failure`, `timeout`, `too_many_redirects`, `redirect_loop`, `invalid_url` or `blocked_private_address`.

### Notes

Some sites block automated requests or answer HEAD/GET differently than a browser; results reflect what a plain HTTP client sees.
Set a custom `userAgent` if needed, and only check URLs you are allowed to request.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Full URLs including http:// or https://. Only these URLs are requested (no crawling). Leave empty (and no dataset) to run a free demo (not charged). Up to 100,000 URLs per run.

## `datasetId` (type: `string`):

Optional. Dataset ID (a finished run's 'defaultDatasetId', e.g. 'WkzbQMuFYuamGv3YF') whose items contain URLs, for example the output of another Actor. Added to the URLs above.

## `urlField` (type: `string`):

Name of the field in each dataset item that holds the URL.

## `followRedirects` (type: `boolean`):

Follow redirects (up to 10) and record the whole chain. If off, only the first response is checked.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Timeout for each request, in seconds. Allowed range 1 to 120 (default 15).

## `userAgent` (type: `string`):

Optional custom User-Agent header. Default identifies this Actor.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many URLs are checked in parallel. Allowed range 1 to 20 (default 5). At most 2 connections per host are used at a time, with at least 0.2 s between requests to the same host.

```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
One item per URL: statusCode, finalStatusCode, ok, redirectCount, redirectChain, finalUrl, isHttpsRedirect, responseTimeMs, error.
## `summary` (type: `string`):
Record SUMMARY: run totals for the checked URLs.
