## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tech Stack Detector – find the CMS, e-commerce platform, analytics and ad pixels of any website

Paste a list of domains and get back, for each one, the technologies it runs: **CMS, e-commerce platform, JavaScript framework, analytics, tag manager, advertising pixels, marketing automation, live chat, payments, cookie-consent tool, CDN, hosting and web server**, with versions where the site exposes them.

It is a lightweight alternative to BuiltWith or Wappalyzer lookups for when you need **hundreds or thousands of sites at once**, exported to CSV, Excel or JSON, or called from your own code or AI agent through the Apify API.

### What can you use it for?

- **Lead qualification** – keep only prospects that use Shopify, WooCommerce, HubSpot or Stripe before you reach out.
- **Competitor research** – see which analytics, ad networks and chat tools your competitors pay for.
- **Market sizing** – count how many sites in a list run a given platform.
- **Agency audits** – check client sites for missing analytics, consent tools or outdated stacks.
- **Data enrichment** – add a "technologies" column to any list of company domains.

### What does it detect?

About 130 technologies in 30+ categories, including WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Next.js, Nuxt, React, Vue, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight, TikTok Pixel, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Intercom, Zendesk, Stripe, PayPal, Klarna, OneTrust, Cookiebot, Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, Nginx and Apache. The list grows with every release.

Detection reads only what a normal browser receives from the homepage: HTML, script URLs, meta tags, response headers and cookie **names** (cookie values are never stored).

### Input

```json
{
  "urls": ["apify.com", "https://www.example-shop.com"],
  "maxConcurrency": 10,
  "timeoutSecs": 20,
  "respectRobotsTxt": true
}
```

### Output (one row per site)

```json
{
  "input": "example-shop.com",
  "finalUrl": "https://www.example-shop.com/",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "title": "Example Shop",
  "technologyCount": 7,
  "categories": {
    "E-commerce": ["Shopify"],
    "Analytics": ["Google Analytics"],
    "Advertising": ["Meta Pixel"],
    "CDN": ["Cloudflare"]
  },
  "technologies": [
    { "name": "Shopify", "category": "E-commerce", "version": null, "evidence": "header:x-shopid" }
  ],
  "error": null,
  "checkedAt": "2026-11-01T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small fee per run plus a fee per **successfully analysed site**. Sites that fail (timeouts, invalid URLs, blocked by robots.txt) are **free**. You can set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops when it is reached.

### Good to know

- Only the homepage is fetched (two requests per site at most: robots.txt and the page). It does not log in, bypass protections or collect personal data.
- Technologies loaded only after user interaction or inside other pages may not be visible.
- Detection is based on public signatures; results are indicative, not guaranteed.

### Integrations

Run it on a schedule, call it from the Apify API, or connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent via the Apify MCP server.
