## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Visa Sponsor Register – Licensed Sponsors & Change Monitor

**Monitor mode is the main paid feature:** schedule the actor daily and get **only the UK visa sponsors added, removed or whose visa routes changed since your last run**: new employers who can now sponsor, and sponsors that lost their licence. Each change costs $0.0015.

You can also **search the Home Office register of licensed sponsors**: every UK employer that can sponsor Skilled Worker, Global Business Mobility, Scale-up, Creative, Charity, Religious and other work visas. Filter by company name, town, visa route and rating. The default input returns Skilled Worker sponsors in London (50 results).

This is the employer register only. It is not immigration advice. For your own visa, check GOV.UK or speak to a regulated immigration adviser.

The data comes from the official CSV on GOV.UK, which is updated every working day and published under the Open Government Licence. No API key needed.

### Who uses this

- **International job seekers and students** – find out which employers in your city can sponsor your visa.
- **Recruiters and immigration law firms** – new sponsors make good leads, and removed or downgraded sponsors are a compliance warning.
- **Job boards and HR tech** – tag job ads with "visa sponsorship available" and keep that tag current.
- **Researchers and journalists** – track sponsor numbers by sector and region over time.

### Inputs

| Input | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mode | `search` or `changes` | `changes` compares today's register with the copy your last run saved. |
| Organisation names | `NHS`, `Deloitte` | Matches sponsors whose name contains the text. Not case-sensitive. |
| Towns / cities | `London`, `Leeds` | Exact town as written on the register. |
| Visa routes | `Skilled Worker`, `Scale-up` | Sponsor must hold at least one of the routes. |
| Ratings | `A`, `B`, `Provisional` | B = the sponsor is on a Home Office action plan. |
| Max results | `50` | |

One record is returned for each organisation and town. All of its visa routes are merged into a list.

### Example output: search

```json
{
  "organisationName": "Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust",
  "town": "London",
  "county": "",
  "routes": ["Skilled Worker"],
  "typesAndRatings": ["Worker (A rating)"],
  "rating": "A",
  "skilledWorker": true,
  "changeType": null,
  "previousRoutes": null,
  "registerDate": "2026-10-21",
  "sourceUrl": "https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/.../SP_-_Worker_and_Temporary_Worker_Web_Register_-_2026-10-21.csv"
}
```

### Example output: changes (monitor mode)

```json
{"organisationName": "Example Defunct Ltd", "town": "Leeds", "county": "West Yorkshire", "routes": [], "changeType": "removed", "previousRoutes": ["Skilled Worker"], "registerDate": "2026-10-21"}
```

`changeType` is `added`, `removed` or `routes-changed`. The first monitor run only saves a baseline and returns nothing. Schedule the actor daily (Apify → Schedules) to receive a daily feed of changes. Your filters apply to the changes as well, so you can, for example, watch only new Skilled Worker sponsors in Manchester.

### Pricing

- **Search:** $1.00 per 1,000 sponsor records ($0.001 each).
- **Monitor:** $1.50 per 1,000 changes ($0.0015 each). A typical day has tens of changes, so a daily feed for all of the UK costs a few cents.
  No start fee. Set a spending limit and the run stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Good to know

- The register lists organisations, not people. It does not show how many visas a sponsor has issued or whether a particular job is sponsored.
- Names and towns appear exactly as the Home Office publishes them. The same company may appear in several towns.
- If GOV.UK changes the file format, the run fails with a clear message instead of returning bad data.

### Licence and attribution

Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0 (Home Office, Register of licensed sponsors: workers). This actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Home Office.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

## `organisationNames` (type: `array`):

Match sponsors whose name contains any of these words (case-insensitive), e.g. 'NHS', 'Deloitte'. Leave empty for all.

## `towns` (type: `array`):

e.g. London, Manchester. Leave empty for all.

## `routes` (type: `array`):

Only sponsors licensed for at least one of these routes. Leave empty for all.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

A = fully compliant, B = on an action plan, Provisional = UK Expansion Worker. Leave empty for all.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many records.
