## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Reviews Scraper: Google Play & App Store

**Scrape Google Play reviews and App Store reviews in one run.** Paste app links or IDs from either store (the store is detected for you), pick one or many countries, and get clean review rows: star rating, title, review text, date, app version, helpful votes and the developer's reply. You can also add one **app details** row per app (rating, ratings count, installs, price, genre, last updated, version).

Built for **review sentiment analysis, ASO (app store optimization), competitor app reviews, product feedback mining and support triage**. Export to CSV, Excel or JSON, or send rows to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or your LLM pipeline through the Apify API.

**Price: $0.15 per 1,000 reviews** and $1 per 1,000 app-details rows. No start fee. You pay only for rows saved to your dataset.

### Why this app reviews scraper?

- **Both stores, one Actor, one run.** Mix Google Play and App Store apps in one list, so iOS and Android are compared in one dataset with the same columns.
- **Multi-country.** Reviews differ by country. Add `us`, `gb`, `de`, `in`, `br`... and each app is scraped in every country.
- **Filters that save money.** Star filter (for example only 1–2 star complaints), a "reviews since" date cutoff, and a per-app limit.
- **App details on request.** Rating, rating histogram (Google Play), ratings count, installs (Google Play), price, in-app purchases, genre, content rating, last updated, version.
- **App Store name search.** Type `duolingo` or `notion` and the top App Store match is used.
- **Store-policy-friendly sources.** Google Play public app pages (allowed by Google Play's robots.txt) and Apple's own public customer-reviews feed and iTunes Lookup/Search APIs. No logins, no cookies.
- **Minimal personal data.** Only the reviewer's public display name is kept. No profile links, no avatars.

### How to use

1. Add apps in **Apps**: a Google Play package name (`com.spotify.music`) or URL, an App Store URL or numeric ID (`324684580`), or `ios:` + bundle ID (`ios:com.spotify.client`).
2. Optional: add App Store app names in **App names to search**.
3. Pick **Countries**, **Sort**, **Max reviews per app and country**, and optional filters.
4. Click **Start**. Results appear in the **Reviews** and **App details** tabs.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "apps": [
    "com.spotify.music",
    "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580"
  ],
  "searchTerms": ["notion"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "sort": "mostRelevant",
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 5,
  "includeAppDetails": true
}
```

### Output

One row per review. Sample from a real run (3 November 2026), text shortened:

```
App Store review rows also have `totalVotes` (helpful + not helpful votes); `thumbsUpCount` is the helpful count.
App details rows (`"type": "appDetails"`), sample from the same run:
| store | appName | country | developer | rating | ratingsCount | installs | price | genre | lastUpdated | version |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| googlePlay | Spotify: Music and Podcasts | us | Spotify AB | 4.35 | 36,583,818 | 1,000,000,000+ | 0 | Music & Audio | 2026-11-02 | Varies with device |
Extra app-details fields: `reviewsCount`, `ratingHistogram`, `minInstalls`, `inAppPurchases`, `genreId`, `contentRating`, `released`, `summary` (Google Play); `bundleId`, `genres`, `minimumOsVersion`, `fileSizeMb`, `releaseNotes` (App Store); `iconUrl`, `appUrl`, `free`, `currency` (both).
A per-app, per-country summary (reviews saved, status) is stored in the run's key-value store as `OUTPUT`.
### Pricing
Pay per event, no start fee:
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Review row | $0.00015 ($0.15 per 1,000) |
| App details row | $0.001 ($1 per 1,000) |
Examples:
- 1,000 reviews = **$0.15**.
- 20 competitor apps × 3 countries × 100 App Store reviews = 6,000 reviews = **$0.90**, plus 60 app-details rows = $0.06 (turn details off to skip).
- The default input (Spotify on both stores, 10 reviews each, US) costs about $0.005.
If a run finds nothing (app not found, store blocked), it fails with "Nothing was charged". If the stores were read fine but no review matched your star or date filters, the run succeeds with 0 results and says so, so scheduled runs don't show up as failures.
**Comparison, honestly:** the most popular single-store review scrapers on the Apify Store charge about $0.10 per 1,000 reviews but cover only one store each, so iOS + Android takes two Actors, two runs and two output formats. This Actor costs $0.15 per 1,000 and covers both stores in one run with one schema. If you need tens of thousands of Google Play reviews for one app, a dedicated Google Play scraper is a better fit (see limits below).
### Limits (please read)
- **Google Play: about 20 reviews per app, per country and language.** We read only the public app page, which shows Google's "most relevant" reviews. Google Play's robots.txt disallows the review pagination endpoints, so we do not call them. The sort and filters are applied within those reviews, so **"Newest" on Google Play means those ~20 reviews ordered by date, not the latest reviews posted** (they are often weeks to months old), and a short "reviews since" cutoff like `7 days` usually returns few or no Play reviews. The App Store feed is truly newest-first. To get more distinct Play reviews, add more countries or languages: each country and language shows a different set.
- **App Store: up to about 500 most recent (or most helpful) reviews per app per country.** This is the limit of Apple's public customer-reviews feed (10 pages × 50). Apple's feed sometimes returns empty or short pages; we retry, but a run can occasionally get fewer than 500.
- **App Store reviews don't include developer replies** (Apple's feed doesn't provide them) and have no per-review link, so `reviewUrl` is empty and `appUrl` points to the app's reviews page. Google Play rows include the developer reply and reply date when there is one.
- **App name search works for the App Store only** (official iTunes Search API). For Google Play, use the package name or URL.
- "Lowest/highest rating" sorts order the reviews the store returns; they don't fetch only low or high ratings from the store. Use the star filter together with a larger limit for complaint mining.
### FAQ
**Which countries are supported?** Any 2-letter country code where the app is available (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `fr`, `in`, `br`, `jp`...). Up to 50 countries per run. `uk` is treated as `gb`.
**Which languages?** Set `language` (for example `de` or `pt-BR`) for Google Play reviews and texts. App Store reviews come in whatever language people wrote in for that country's store.
**What personal data is collected?** Only the reviewer's public display name as shown in the store, next to the public review. No profile URLs, avatars, emails or user IDs. Reviews can still contain personal data written by the reviewer, so make sure your use complies with GDPR and other laws, and don't use the data to contact or profile individual people.
**Does it need a proxy?** Usually not. Requests go direct first; the Apify proxy you select is used only if a store blocks a request.
**Can I run it on a schedule?** Yes. For the App Store, use Apify Schedules with a "reviews since" value like `7 days` to collect only new reviews each week. For Google Play, a schedule gives you a fresh snapshot of the ~20 reviews Google currently shows per country (skip the short cutoff, see Limits).
**Can I use it with AI?** Yes: send the dataset to an LLM or the Apify MCP server for sentiment analysis, topic clustering or release-by-release comparisons (`appVersion` is included).
**Found a bug or need a field?** Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab.
# Actor input Schema
## `apps` (type: `array`):
Mix Google Play and App Store apps freely; the store is detected automatically. Google Play: package name (com.spotify.music) or play.google.com URL. App Store: apps.apple.com URL, numeric ID (324684580) or ios:bundle.id (ios:com.spotify.client).
## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):
Optional. App names such as "duolingo"; the top App Store match in each country is used (official iTunes Search API). Google Play search pages are disallowed by Google's robots.txt, so for Google Play please give the package name or URL.
## `countries` (type: `array`):
2-letter country codes (us, gb, de, in, br, jp...). Each app is scraped in every country; reviews differ by country. Max 50.
## `language` (type: `string`):
Language code for Google Play reviews and app texts (en, de, fr, es, pt-BR, ja...). App Store reviews always come in the language people wrote them in that country.
## `sort` (type: `string`):
Newest first, most relevant/helpful first, or by star rating. App Store: applied by Apple's feed (true newest or most helpful). Google Play: applied to the ~20 "most relevant" reviews the public app page shows, so "Newest" on Play is not the latest reviews (see README limits).
## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many reviews for each app in each country. Store limits: App Store about 500 per country, Google Play about 20 per country (see README).
## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):
Optional date cutoff: 2026-10-01, or relative like "30 days", "2 weeks", "6 months". Works best for the App Store. On Google Play it filters the ~20 "most relevant" reviews, so a short cutoff (e.g. 7 days) often returns few or no Play reviews.
## `ratings` (type: `array`):
Optional. Keep only these star ratings, e.g. 1 and 2 for complaints. Empty = all.
## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Add one app-details row per app and country: title, developer, rating, ratings count, rating histogram (Play), installs (Play), price, genre, last updated, version.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Requests go direct first. The proxy is used only if a store blocks direct requests. Datacenter proxy is enough.
