## Pricing

from $0.50 / 1,000 page fetcheds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Web Page to Markdown – Bulk URL Fetcher

Give it a list of URLs, get back clean Markdown (or plain text, HTML and links) for each page, plus title, description, language, canonical URL and status code. Built for feeding LLMs, RAG pipelines, AI agents and content monitoring.

### Why use it

- **Clean output for AI** – navigation, headers, footers and sidebars are removed by default, so your model reads the article, not the menu.
- **JavaScript when needed** – pages are fetched over plain HTTP first and rendered in a real browser only when the content needs it. You can force either mode.
- **Bulk, in parallel** – paste hundreds of URLs; they are fetched concurrently.
- **Failed pages are free** – you pay only for pages that were fetched successfully. Errors are listed in the dataset with a reason.

### How to use it

1. Paste your URLs (one per line).
2. Pick output formats: Markdown (default), plain text, HTML, links.
3. Leave JavaScript rendering on Auto unless you know the site needs a browser.
4. Run, then export the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the API.

### Output example

```json
{
  "url": "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_scraping",
  "finalUrl": "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_scraping",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "title": "Web scraping - Wikipedia",
  "description": null,
  "language": "en",
  "renderedJs": false,
  "markdown": "# Web scraping\n\nWeb scraping, web harvesting, or web data extraction is data scraping used for extracting data from websites...",
  "fetchedAt": "2026-09-27T16:30:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per page fetched:

| Apify plan | Price per 1,000 pages |
|---|---|
| Free and Starter | $0.75 |
| Scale | $0.625 |
| Business and above | $0.50 |

About half the price of the usual page-fetch Actors. A small fee applies to each run start. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### FAQ

**Does it crawl a whole site?** No, it fetches exactly the URLs you give it. For whole-site crawls, collect the URLs first (for example from a sitemap) and pass them in.

**Can it read pages behind a login?** No. Only publicly accessible pages.

**What about PDFs and images?** HTML pages are supported. Other content types may return an error, which is not charged.

**Is it legal?** It reads publicly available pages. You are responsible for respecting each website's terms and applicable law, including copyright and data protection rules.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to fetch. Only http:// and https:// URLs.

## `formats` (type: `array`):

What to return for each page. Markdown is best for LLMs.

## `onlyMainContent` (type: `boolean`):

Drop navigation, headers, footers and sidebars.

## `renderJs` (type: `string`):

Auto fetches over plain HTTP first and renders in a browser only if the page needs it.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Pages fetched in parallel.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "urls": [
        "https://docs.apify.com/platform/actors"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("unbrowseai/web-page-to-markdown").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
