## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Channel Upload Delta via Official RSS

Monitor new public uploads from known YouTube channels through the official public Atom feed. The first successful run creates a free baseline. Later runs emit only `NEW_UPLOAD` or meaningful `UPLOAD_METADATA_CHANGED` records.

### Who it is for

Automation builders, media researchers, creator teams, and data pipelines that already know which channels they follow and need cheap scheduled upload signals.

### Supported inputs

- A direct `UC...` channel ID.
- `https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC...`.
- `https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC...`.

Handles, usernames, custom channel URLs, watch pages, search, transcripts, comments, media downloads, InnerTube, and the YouTube Data API are intentionally unsupported. An unresolved input produces an `unsupported_input` diagnostic without a request or charge.

### Output and semantics

Every row is a baseline, committed change, or diagnostic. Changes contain stable video/channel IDs, source URL, previous/current video evidence, changed fields, and observation time. Missing source fields remain `null`. Output follows deterministic channel and video identity order.

- Baseline: stores current feed entries; free.
- `NEW_UPLOAD`: a video ID appears that was absent from the prior successful observation.
- `UPLOAD_METADATA_CHANGED`: title, stable timestamps, or author/channel fields changed.
- Feed disappearance is not an event. RSS is a rolling recent window, not complete history; schedule frequently enough.

Raw XML hashes never create events. Invalid channels, failures, blocked responses, retries, diagnostics, duplicates, baselines, and unchanged checks are free. Proposed PPE: **$0.003 per successfully committed upload change**.

### Reliability and limits

Requests use only the official `/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=...` surface. Transactions have timeouts, streamed byte caps, redirect limits, bounded retries, and concurrency limits. Redirects must remain on the same surface. HTTP 404 is `invalid_channel`; HTTP 403/429 or challenge evidence is blocked, never empty.

Defaults: 50 channels, 15 entries/channel, concurrency 10, 10-second timeout, one retry, 1 MB wire and 2 MB decoded caps.

```json
{"channels":["UC_x5XG1OV2P6uZZ5FSM9Ttw","https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLA_DiR1FfKNvjuUpBHmylQ"],"monitorKey":"daily-watch"}
```

Use the same monitor key for scheduled repeats. See the owner runbook and private validation plan in `docs/`.

# Actor input Schema

## `channels` (type: `array`):

Known public YouTube channels exposing stable UC identifiers.

## `monitorKey` (type: `string`):

Keeps this monitor's persistent baseline separate from other schedules.

## `maxChannels` (type: `integer`):

Hard channel limit for one run.

## `maxEntriesPerChannel` (type: `integer`):

Caps the rolling feed entries stored for each channel.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("ursog/youtube-channel-upload-delta").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
