## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Monitor: Products, Prices, Stock & Changes

Track any Shopify store's full catalog and get **what changed since your last run**: new products, price drops, discounts, restocks, sell-outs and removed products.

Paste store domains and press Start. No login, cookies or proxies needed.

### What you get

- **Every product** with title, vendor, type, tags, URL, image, created/updated/published dates
- **Pricing**: min/max price, compare-at price, on-sale flag and discount %
- **Stock**: available, number of variants in stock, and each variant's SKU, price, compare-at price and availability
- **Change tracking** on every record: `NEW`, `CHANGED` (with a before→after list of fields), `REMOVED` or `UNCHANGED`

### Use it as a monitor

1. Run once with your store list. This is your baseline.
2. Set **Output** to *Only changes since last run*.
3. Add a **Schedule** (Apify Console → Schedules), for example daily at 8:00.
4. Connect the dataset to Slack, email, Google Sheets, Zapier or Make, or call it from your own code or an AI agent.

Each later run returns only what moved, for example:

```json
{
  "changeType": "CHANGED",
  "store": "https://allbirds.com",
  "title": "Women's Allbirds Flip Flop - Dusty Pink",
  "priceMin": 25, "compareAtMax": 35, "discountPct": 29, "available": true,
  "changes": [{ "field": "priceMin", "from": 35, "to": 25 }],
  "url": "https://allbirds.com/products/womens-flip-flop-dusty-pink"
}
```

History is kept per store list, so you can run several independent watch lists.

### Who uses it

- **Brands and retailers** watching competitor pricing, launches and promotions
- **Dropshippers and resellers** catching restocks and price drops
- **Analysts and agencies** tracking catalogs across many stores
- **AI agents** that need fresh, structured product data

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Product returned | $1.00 per 1,000 |
| Product checked with no change (*changes* mode only) | $0.20 per 1,000 |
| Run start | $0.001 |

A daily watch of 5 stores with 1,000 products each costs about **$1/day** when nothing changes, plus $1 per 1,000 changes.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `storeUrls` | Store domains or URLs, e.g. `allbirds.com` |
| `outputMode` | `all` (default) or `changes` |
| `maxProductsPerStore` | Cap per store (default 10,000) |
| `includeDescription` | Add plain-text product descriptions |
| `resetState` | Start a new baseline |

### Notes

- Works with stores that serve Shopify's standard public product feed (`/products.json`). Most do. Headless storefronts or stores that disable the feed are reported in the run's `RUN_SUMMARY`; the rest of the run continues.
- A store that fails to load is **never** reported as "all products removed". Its history is kept until the next successful fetch.
- The data is the public catalog the store publishes for anyone to see. No personal data is collected.

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Store domains or URLs, e.g. allbirds.com or https://www.gymshark.com. Works with any store that exposes Shopify's public product feed.

## `outputMode` (type: `string`):

'all' returns every product with its change status. 'changes' returns only new, changed and removed products since the last run with the same store list (the first run returns the full baseline). Schedule the actor to get price-drop, restock and new-product alerts.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many products per store.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Add the product description as plain text.

## `resetState` (type: `boolean`):

Forget the previous run and start a new baseline.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "storeUrls": [
    "allbirds.com"
  ],
  "outputMode": "all",
  "maxProductsPerStore": 10000,
  "includeDescription": false,
  "resetState": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Every product (or only changes, in changes mode) with prices, discounts, stock and variants, plus changeType and before/after changes.

## `allFields` (type: `string`):

The same records with every field.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Counts of new, changed, removed and unchanged records, output count, and per-source errors.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "storeUrls": [
        "allbirds.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("utilityworksstudio/shopify-store-monitor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
