## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LATAM Tax ID Validator — RUT, CUIT, RFC, CURP, CPF, CNPJ, NIT, RUC

Validate and normalize **tax identification numbers from 17 countries** in bulk, in seconds. Ideal for cleaning customer/supplier lists, CRM imports, invoicing systems, KYC pre-checks and e-commerce checkouts in Latin America.

### What it checks

| Country | Documents |
|---|---|
| 🇨🇱 Chile | RUT |
| 🇦🇷 Argentina | CUIT, DNI |
| 🇲🇽 Mexico | RFC, CURP |
| 🇧🇷 Brazil | CPF, CNPJ |
| 🇨🇴 Colombia | NIT |
| 🇵🇪 Peru | RUC, DNI |
| 🇪🇨 Ecuador | RUC, Cédula |
| 🇺🇾 Uruguay · 🇻🇪 Venezuela · 🇵🇾 Paraguay · 🇬🇹 Guatemala · 🇨🇷 Costa Rica · 🇩🇴 Dominican Rep. · 🇸🇻 El Salvador | RUT, RIF, RUC, NIT, Cédula, RNC |
| 🇪🇸 Spain · 🇵🇹 Portugal · 🇺🇸 USA | NIF/NIE/CIF, NIF, EIN |

For each ID you get: `valid`, document `type`, `normalized` (digits only) and `formatted` (official format, e.g. `76.086.428-5`), plus the `reason` when invalid.

### Input

```json
{ "ids": ["CL:76.086.428-5", "BR:11222333000181", "MX:GODE561231GR8"], "defaultCountry": "CL" }
```

IDs without a prefix use `defaultCountry`.

### Output (one row per ID)

```json
{ "input": "76086428-5", "country": "CL", "valid": true, "type": "RUT", "normalized": "760864285", "formatted": "76.086.428-5", "reason": null }
```

### Notes

- Validation is **checksum/format-based** (official algorithms). It confirms the number is well-formed; it does not query government registries.
- No AI, no external calls, nothing is stored. Runs in seconds even for thousands of IDs.
- Export results to CSV/Excel/JSON or call it via the Apify API from your app.

# Actor input Schema

## `ids` (type: `array`):

One ID per line. Use COUNTRY:NUMBER (e.g. CL:76.086.428-5, BR:11.222.333/0001-81) or just the number to use the default country.

## `defaultCountry` (type: `string`):

Country used for IDs without a COUNTRY: prefix.
