## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Daily Market Briefing: SEC Red Flags, Earnings, IPOs, Macro

One run gives you the morning market briefing, built only from official US government sources:

- **SEC red flags from the last 24 hours**, most serious first: bankruptcies, restatements, auditor changes, delisting notices, late filings, cybersecurity incidents, and insider purchases of $100K or more.
- **Earnings releases** from the latest day with any, with the headline numbers pulled out.
- **IPO filings** this week (new S-1/F-1 registrations, amendments, final pricings). SPACs are left out.
- **Macro snapshot**: Treasury yields (10-year, 2-year, inversion), CPI, unemployment, payrolls, and the Fed funds rate.

It opens with a few plain-English `summary` sentences, so you, or your AI agent, can read it in seconds.

### Who it is for

- Investors and analysts who want one morning read instead of checking EDGAR, Treasury and BLS separately.
- People who watch specific stocks: give a watchlist and the alerts and earnings are narrowed to your tickers.
- AI agents and automations (n8n, Make, Zapier, Slack bots) that post a daily market note. Schedule this Actor every weekday morning with Apify Schedules.

### Input

| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `tickers` | no | A watchlist of US tickers, e.g. `["AAPL", "NVDA", "TSLA"]`. SEC alerts and earnings are filtered to these. Leave empty for the whole market. |
| `include` | no | Pick sections: `alerts`, `earnings`, `ipos`, `economy`. Default: all four. |

Example:

```json
{ "tickers": ["AAPL", "NVDA", "JPM"] }
```

### Output

One dataset item per run. This is a real run (2026-10-21, whole market), shortened to one entry per list:

### Pricing

**$0.02 per briefing** (pay per event: you pay only when a briefing is delivered). Apify platform usage is included. Apify also adds its standard run-start fee of $0.00005. A briefing every weekday costs about $0.44 a month.

### Limitations (please read)

- **Coverage window:** SEC alerts come from EDGAR's live feed, which covers roughly the last few business days. "Last 24 hours" means filings EDGAR accepted in the 24 hours before the run.
- **Missing figures:** if a source hasn't published a figure yet, or doesn't answer, that figure is `null`. A section whose source is completely down is listed in `unavailable`.
- **Alerts:** these are detected from 8-K item codes and Form 4 filings. They are a screening aid, not investment advice; read the linked filing before acting.
- **Scope:** US-listed companies only. There are no stock prices or news articles, only official filings and government statistics.

### Use it from an AI agent (MCP)

This Actor runs with Apify's default limited permissions, so it is available through Apify's MCP server.
Add it to Claude, Cursor or any MCP client with:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=<publisher>/daily-market-briefing
```

The agent then calls it with input like `{"tickers": ["AAPL"]}`. Results land in the run's dataset; the MCP
server's `get-dataset-items` tool reads them.

### Data sources

SEC EDGAR, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. All are public-domain US government data. Requests identify this service to SEC as its fair-access policy requires.
