## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Luma Events Scraper

Get public Luma (lu.ma) events as clean rows: name, dates, venue, city, hosts, price, spots left and link, by city or by calendar, with date-range and keyword filters.

### What it does

- City mode covers Luma’s discover cities (San Francisco, New York, London, Berlin and 80+ more).
- Calendar mode takes any public Luma calendar URL, e.g. https://lu.ma/genai-sf.
- Filters by date range and keyword (name, calendar or host).
- Returns price, free/paid, sold out, spots left and whether approval is required.
- Shows the RSVP count only when the host makes the guest list public.

**Why this one:** City discovery across Luma’s 87 cities plus any public calendar, date-range and keyword filters, and price and spots-left on every event.

In our last check, 20 runs over varied inputs succeeded 100% of the time.

### Use cases

- Event calendars and newsletters for a city or niche
- Finding tech, startup and AI events to attend or sponsor
- Tracking a community’s events over time

### Input example

```json
{
  "cities": [
    "San Francisco"
  ],
  "maxItems": 5
}
```

- cities: Luma discover cities
- calendarUrls: public calendars
- keyword
- startDate / endDate

**Fields:**

- name, url, startAt, endAt, timezone, locationType
- venue, city, region, country, latitude, longitude
- hosts, calendar
- isFree, price, currency, soldOut, spotsRemaining, requiresApproval, rsvpCount (only when the guest list is public), waitlist

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$2.60 per 1,000 results**. You pay only for results you get; Apify platform costs are included. Set a maximum charge for a run and the Actor stops cleanly when it's reached, keeping everything collected so far.

### Tips

- If a city isn’t found, the log lists all of Luma’s discover cities.
- Combine several cities in one run.

### FAQ

**Do I need an account on Luma?** No. It only reads public pages and data.

**Does it get attendee lists?** No. It never collects guests or contact details, only public event information.
**Something broke or a field is missing?** Open an issue on the Issues tab and include your run link. We fix scrapers quickly when sites change.

### Legal

This Actor collects publicly available data only. You're responsible for using it lawfully and in line with Luma's terms.
