## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tech-Stack Detector

Find the technologies behind any website, in bulk: CMS, e-commerce platform, analytics, ad pixels, JavaScript frameworks, CDN and hosting, with versions and confidence.

### What it does

- Checks each site with one fast request and matches over 7,600 open technology fingerprints.
- Ready-made columns: CMS, e-commerce, analytics, advertising (ad pixels), frameworks and hosting.
- Full list of detected technologies with categories, version (when the site reveals it) and confidence.
- Adds implied technologies (WordPress implies PHP and MySQL, for example).
- Lists sites it couldn’t check in FAILED_URLS; you aren’t charged for those.

**Why this one:** Over 7,600 technology fingerprints, ready-made CMS / analytics / ad-pixel / hosting columns, versions where the site reveals them, and a fast HTTP check instead of a full browser, so bulk runs stay cheap.

In our last check, 20 runs over varied inputs succeeded 100% of the time.

### Use cases

- Lead lists: find stores on Shopify or sites using a competitor’s tool
- Market research on which tools a sector uses
- Auditing your own sites’ tags and pixels

### Input example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    {
      "url": "https://wordpress.org"
    },
    {
      "url": "https://www.shopify.com"
    }
  ],
  "maxItems": 2
}
```

- urls: sites to check
- minConfidence: 1-100

**Fields:**

- url, finalUrl, statusCode, technologyCount
- technologies \[{name, categories, version, confidence, website}]
- cms, ecommerce, analytics, advertising (ad pixels), frameworks, hosting, categories

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$3.00 per 1,000 results**. You pay only for results you get; Apify platform costs are included. Set a maximum charge for a run and the Actor stops cleanly when it's reached, keeping everything collected so far.

### Tips

- Raise "Minimum confidence" to 75 or more for fewer, surer results.
- Some technologies only show in a live browser (they run purely in JavaScript); this fast check covers what’s in the page, headers and cookies.

### FAQ

**Do I need an account on each site?** No. It only reads public pages and data.

**Where do the fingerprints come from?** The open, MIT-licensed set maintained in projectdiscovery/wappalyzergo.
**Something broke or a field is missing?** Open an issue on the Issues tab and include your run link. We fix scrapers quickly when sites change.

### Legal

Technology fingerprints: projectdiscovery/wappalyzergo, MIT License.

This Actor collects publicly available data only. You're responsible for using it lawfully and in line with each site's terms.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Sites to check. Thousands per run are fine.

## `minConfidence` (type: `integer`):

Only report technologies detected with at least this confidence (1-100).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many sites. You are only charged for sites checked.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Datacenter proxy works for most sites.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.shopify.com"
    },
    {
      "url": "https://wordpress.org"
  ],
  "minConfidence": 50,
  "maxItems": 1000,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `sites` (type: `string`):

One row per site with its detected technologies.

## `failedUrls` (type: `string`):

Sites that could not be checked (not charged).
