## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does PageSpeed Insights & Core Web Vitals Bulk Audit do?

This Actor checks **Lighthouse scores** and **real-user Core Web Vitals** for hundreds of URLs in one run. It uses the official [Google PageSpeed Insights API](https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/v5/about), so results are identical to what you see on pagespeed.web.dev, just **in bulk, as a table and via API**.

For every URL and device (mobile and/or desktop) you get:

- **Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO scores** (0–100)
- **Core Web Vitals from the Chrome UX Report (CrUX)**: LCP, INP, CLS, FCP and TTFB at the 75th percentile, plus a clear **PASSED / FAILED** assessment
- **Lab metrics** from Lighthouse (LCP, FCP, TBT, CLS, Speed Index)
- The **top 5 optimization opportunities** ranked by estimated time savings

No proxies, no browser and no scraping are involved, so runs are fast and reliable.

### Why use this PageSpeed Insights bulk checker?

- **Audit a whole site or a client portfolio at once** instead of pasting URLs into pagespeed.web.dev one by one
- **Monitor Core Web Vitals over time**: schedule the Actor weekly and compare datasets
- **Find the pages that fail Google's Core Web Vitals** before they cost you rankings
- **SEO agencies**: export a client-ready table to Google Sheets, Excel or CSV
- **Developers**: call it from the Apify API, Make, Zapier or n8n after every deploy
- **Pay only for successful audits**: URLs that Google cannot test are reported with an error and are not charged

### What data does the PageSpeed audit return?

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `performanceScore` | Lighthouse performance score (0–100) |
| `coreWebVitals` | `PASSED`, `FAILED` or `null` when Google has no real-user data |
| `fieldLcpMs`, `fieldInpMs`, `fieldCls` | Real-user Core Web Vitals (p75) |
| `fieldDataScope` | `url` for page-level data, `origin` when only site-wide data exists |
| `labLcpMs`, `labTbtMs`, `labCls` | Lighthouse lab metrics |
| `seoScore`, `accessibilityScore`, `bestPracticesScore` | Other Lighthouse category scores |
| `topOpportunities` | Up to 5 failed audits with estimated savings in ms |
| `error` | Reason if the URL could not be audited |

### How to check PageSpeed for many URLs

1. Click **Try for free**.
2. Paste your URLs into the **URLs** field, one per line.
3. Choose **Mobile**, **Desktop** or both.
4. Click **Start** and wait. Each audit takes 10–30 seconds, five run in parallel.
5. Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or open them in the table view.

### How much does a PageSpeed audit cost?

This Actor uses **pay per event**: you pay a fixed price per successful audit (one URL on one device), and **platform usage is included**. Failed audits are free. The current price is shown in the **Pricing** tab. Apify's free plan includes monthly credits, enough to try the Actor on your own site.

### FAQ

#### How fast is it? Can I audit thousands of URLs?

Google limits each API key to 30 audits per minute. The Actor waits and retries automatically, so large lists finish, just slower. To speed up big jobs, add your own free Google API key in the **Advanced** input section; your runs then use your own quota.

#### Why is `coreWebVitals` empty for some pages?

Google only publishes real-user data for pages and sites with enough Chrome traffic. Small sites often have no CrUX data. When page-level data is missing, the Actor falls back to site-wide (origin) data and sets `fieldDataScope` to `origin`.

#### Why do my scores differ slightly between runs?

Lighthouse lab scores vary by a few points from run to run. This is normal and also happens on pagespeed.web.dev. Real-user Core Web Vitals are a 28-day average and stay stable.

#### Can I audit pages behind a login?

No. Google's servers must be able to reach the URL publicly.

#### Something does not work

Please open an issue in the **Issues** tab with the URL and the run ID. You can also start the Actor programmatically from the **API** tab.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to audit. Each URL is checked once per selected device.

## `strategies` (type: `array`):

Run Lighthouse with mobile and/or desktop emulation. Each device counts as one audit.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Which Lighthouse scores to compute. Core Web Vitals field data is always included.

## `locale` (type: `string`):

Language of the audit titles in the output (e.g. en, de, fr).

## `apiKey` (type: `string`):

Google allows 30 PageSpeed requests per minute per key. For large lists, add your own free key from Google Cloud Console (PageSpeed Insights API) to use your own quota. Leave empty to use ours.
