## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Review Monitor

Track what users say about any iOS app, in any App Store country, and get **only the new reviews** on each run. Point it at your own app or a competitor's. Schedule it daily and pipe the results into Slack, a spreadsheet, or your support queue.

Built by **Veinwork**.

### What you get

- **Recent reviews for any app.** Use the numeric app ID (`389801252`) or paste the App Store URL.
- **Many countries in one run.** Up to 50 apps × 50 countries. Each app/country pair is collected separately, because the App Store keeps reviews per storefront.
- **Monitoring mode.** With **Only new reviews** on, each run returns only reviews newer than the previous run. Pair it with an Apify schedule and you have a review alert feed.
- **Clean, flat output.** One row per review, ready for CSV, Excel, JSON, or an API call.
- **Light and cheap.** It reads Apple's official public review feed. No browser, no proxies, no login.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| **App IDs or App Store URLs** | Required. Up to 50. Duplicates are collected once. |
| **Country codes** | Two-letter storefront codes, for example `us`, `gb`, `jp`, `de`. Default `us`. |
| **Maximum pages per app and country** | 1–10 pages, 50 reviews per page. Default 10. |
| **Only new reviews** | Off: return the available recent reviews. On: return only reviews newer than the last run. |

Example:

```json
{
  "appIds": ["389801252", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxPagesPerCountry": 2,
  "incremental": true
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "reviewId": "13519437210",
  "appId": "389801252",
  "country": "us",
  "rating": 1,
  "title": "Example title",
  "content": "Example review text…",
  "author": "example_user",
  "appVersion": "412.0",
  "voteSum": 3,
  "voteCount": 4,
  "updatedAt": "2026-10-28T06:31:33-07:00",
  "appUrl": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id389801252"
}
```

`updatedAt` keeps Apple's original timestamp with its time zone.

### Pricing

Pay per review: you pay only for review rows delivered to your dataset. Runs that find no new reviews cost almost nothing. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options, and the Actor stops delivering when it reaches that limit.

### How monitoring works

With **Only new reviews** on, the Actor saves the newest review time for each app/country pair in a key-value store named `appstore-review-monitor-state` in your account. The next run stops reading as soon as it reaches reviews it has already returned. The first run returns the available recent reviews.

### Limits

- **500 reviews per app and country.** Apple's feed shows the 500 most recent reviews (10 pages × 50). For a full history of a large app, run regularly from day one.
- **Busy apps: schedule often enough.** If an app gets more than 50 new reviews in one country between runs, a short feed hiccup on a later page can end that run early, and those older new reviews are skipped. For very busy apps, run hourly or daily, not weekly.
- **Apple's feed sometimes returns an empty page.** The Actor retries automatically, up to 6 times per page, with fresh requests. If page 1 is still empty, the run log shows a warning for that app/country. This can also mean the app has no reviews in that country.
- **Cost limit and monitoring mode.** If the cost limit stops a run partway through an app/country pair, that pair is not marked as done. The next run delivers it again from the start, so you may see a few repeated rows. Set the cost limit high enough to cover at least one pair's new reviews, or the same pair repeats on every run.
- **Written reviews only.** Star-only ratings without text are not in Apple's feed.

### Tips

- **Find the app ID:** it's the number after `id` in the App Store URL, for example `apps.apple.com/us/app/…/id324684580`.
- **Daily alerts:** create a saved task with **Only new reviews** on, add a daily schedule, and connect a Slack or email integration to the run's dataset.
- **One-star triage:** filter the dataset on `rating <= 2` to see complaints first.

# Actor input Schema

## `appIds` (type: `array`):

Enter up to 50 numeric app IDs (for example, 389801252) or App Store URLs. Duplicate IDs are collected once.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Enter up to 50 two-letter country codes. Reviews are collected separately for each app and country.

## `maxPagesPerCountry` (type: `integer`):

Read 1 to 10 pages. Apple's feed exposes at most 500 recent reviews per app and country, with up to 50 reviews per page.

## `incremental` (type: `boolean`):

Return only reviews newer than the last run. State is saved in the named key-value store appstore-review-monitor-state in your account. The first run collects the available recent reviews.
