## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Amazon Best Sellers Scraper — top 100 by category, 4 charts, 13 countries

Scrape Amazon's ranked charts: **Best Sellers**, **New Releases**, **Most Wished For** and **Most
Gifted** — for any category or sub-category, on any of 13 Amazon
marketplaces. Each product comes with its rank, ASIN, title, price, star rating, review count, image
and URL. No login, no browser; residential proxy included.

### Input

| Field | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `category` | `electronics` | Slug or node path from the chart URL: `books`, `beauty`, `toys-and-games`, `electronics/172282`… Empty = all departments |
| `listType` | `bestsellers` | `bestsellers`, `new-releases`, `most-wished-for`, `most-gifted` |
| `domain` | `com` | `com`, `co.uk`, `de`, `fr`, `it`, `es`, `ca`, `com.au`, `co.jp`, `in`, `com.mx`, `nl`, `se` |
| `maxItems` | `10` | Up to 100 (Amazon shows 2 pages of 50) |

### Output

```json
{
  "rank": 1,
  "asin": "B08JHCVHTY",
  "title": "Blink Plus Plan with monthly auto-renewal",
  "url": "https://www.amazon.com/Blink-Plus-Plan-monthly-auto-renewal/dp/B08JHCVHTY",
  "price": 11.99, "priceText": "$11.99", "currency": "USD",
  "rating": 4.4, "reviewCount": 279905,
  "imageUrl": "https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31YHGbJsldL._AC_UL300_SR300,200_.png",
  "listType": "bestsellers", "listTitle": "Amazon Best Sellers", "category": "electronics", "categoryName": "Electronics", "domain": "amazon.com",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-09-06T19:30:00.000Z"
}
```

### Use cases

Product research and trend spotting, competitor tracking by category, sourcing for FBA and
dropshipping, market-share monitoring across countries, and price benchmarking of category leaders.

### Notes

- Find category slugs in the chart URL on Amazon: `amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/<slug>/`.
- Movers & Shakers is not offered: Amazon renders that chart client-side, so its products are not in the page.
- Amazon occasionally serves a captcha page; the actor detects it and retries on a fresh residential IP.
