# Niche Value Finder - Score Niche Ideas by Growth & Buyer Intent (`veridata/niche-value-finder`) Actor

Seed topics in, ranked niche ideas out. Expands with Google Autocomplete and Trends related searches, then scores each niche 0-100 on 5-year growth, demand, buyer intent and seasonality. Explainable scores.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Niche Value Finder: Score Niche Ideas by Growth, Demand & Buyer Intent

Give it a few broad topics and it returns a **ranked list of niche keywords worth building around**, each with an **opportunity score (0-100)** that explains itself. Use it to decide what product, blog, store, course, YouTube channel or affiliate site to start, or which corner of your market is heating up.

**Guide:** [How to score niche ideas 0-100 with free Google data](https://dev.to/veridata/how-to-score-niche-ideas-0-100-with-free-google-data-growth-demand-buyer-intent-l30), a worked example with real results.

### How it works

1. **Expands each seed topic** with Google Autocomplete (what people actually type), including buyer-style variations like "best…", "…vs…", "buy…". Turn on **Deep expansion** for a-z long-tail ideas.
2. **Measures every candidate on Google Trends** over 5 years: year-over-year growth, recent momentum, trend direction, seasonality and peak month.
3. **Puts all candidates from a seed on one demand scale**, so you can compare them directly.
4. **Compares the seeds with each other** (2+ seeds), so `demandAcrossSeeds` ranks every niche in the run on one scale.
5. **Digs one level deeper**: rising and breakout related searches for every niche (sub-niche ideas), the top regions for the best niches, and a month-by-month seasonal profile.
6. **Scores each niche** and gives a plain-English verdict.

### The opportunity score

| Part | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Growth | 30% | Year-over-year change in search interest |
| Demand | 20% | Search interest relative to the other niches from the same seed (log scale) |
| Buyer intent | 20% | Whether the phrase signals spending (buy, best, price, review, vs, near me...) or just curiosity (what is, how to, free) |
| Momentum | 15% | The latest quarter of the period vs the quarter before |
| Steadiness | 10% | Low seasonality scores higher, so demand doesn't vanish for half the year |
| Breadth | 5% | How often the phrase appears across autocomplete variations |

Niches with **breakout** related searches (Google's label for growth above 5000%) get a bonus. Falling niches get a penalty. Every row includes `scoreParts`, so you can see why a niche scored the way it did and re-weight it yourself.

### Output per niche

`seed`, `keyword`, `rankInSeed`, `opportunityScore`, `verdict`, `scoreParts`, `yearOverYearChangePct`, `recentChangePct`, `trendDirection`, `relativePopularity`, `demandAcrossSeeds`, `averageInterest`, `seasonality`, `monthlyProfile` (Jan-Dec, strongest month = 100), `peakMonth`, `buyerIntent`, `intentWords`, `autocompleteHits`, `rising` and `breakouts` (related searches), `topRegions`, `trendsUrl`.

### How to use

1. Enter seed topics, one per line.
2. Pick a country and how many niches to score per seed.
3. Optionally set a minimum score to keep only the strongest ideas.
4. Export to CSV, Excel or JSON, or send the results to Google Sheets.

### Pricing

Pay per niche scored. Candidates with too little search data are returned free, and niches below your minimum score are not returned or charged.

### Notes

- Keywords with too little search data for Google Trends to measure reliably are returned free with the verdict "too little search data".
- Region values are exactly what Google Trends reports. In October 2026, Google's own map showed Wyoming as the top US state for many unrelated keywords, so compare the other regions with each other rather than relying on the top spot.
- Google Trends values are relative, not absolute search volumes. The score ranks ideas against each other. It doesn't predict revenue.
- Data comes from public Google Autocomplete and Google Trends. This actor is not affiliated with Google.

# Actor input Schema

## `seeds` (type: `array`):

Broad topics to explore, one per line (for example: air fryer, home gym, dog training). Each seed is expanded into related niche keywords.

## `geo` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code for search data, for example US, GB, IN, ES.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Longer history gives year-over-year growth and seasonality.

## `maxNichesPerSeed` (type: `integer`):

How many related niche keywords to score for each seed (the seed itself is always included).

## `deepExpansion` (type: `boolean`):

Also expands each seed with a-z autocomplete, finding many more long-tail ideas. Slower.

## `risingForEveryNiche` (type: `boolean`):

Collect Google Trends rising and breakout related searches for every niche, not only the top few. These are sub-niche ideas. Slightly slower.

## `regionsForTopNiches` (type: `integer`):

For this many top niches per seed, list the 5 regions (e.g. US states) where they are searched most. 0 turns it off.

## `compareAcrossSeeds` (type: `boolean`):

With 2+ seeds, also put every niche on one demand scale across all seeds (field demandAcrossSeeds). Results are saved at the end of the run.

## `minScore` (type: `integer`):

Only return (and charge for) niches scoring at least this much (0-100).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Not needed for normal use.
