## Pricing

from $0.80 / 1,000 checked usernames

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Telegram Username Checker — profiles, channel stats, and contacts in bulk

Check hundreds or thousands of Telegram usernames in one run. See which ones are in use, and whether each belongs to a person, a bot, a channel, or a group — with name, bio, photo, verified badge, and subscriber or member counts. Channels come with activity and engagement stats, and every bio is scanned for links, usernames, and emails.

It doubles as a bulk **Telegram channel analytics** tool: subscriber count, posting rate, average views, and engagement rate (ERR) for every public channel on your list — a quick TGStat alternative for vetting channels before you buy ads.

### What you can do

- Vet channels before buying ads: last post date, posts per week, average views, and engagement rate in one table
- Spot dead channels at a glance — a big subscriber count means nothing if the last post was a year ago
- Check subscriber counts for a whole list of channels at once
- Build lead lists: pull ad contacts, admin usernames, and websites straight from bios
- Clean lists: drop usernames that no longer exist before outreach or CRM import
- Sort mixed lists into people, bots, channels, and groups
- Size up communities: group member counts and how many members are online right now
- See where an invite link leads: group or channel name, description, and member count
- Track growth by checking the same list every week

### How to use it

1. Add your usernames — `durov`, `@BotFather`, links like `https://t.me/telegram` or `durov.t.me`, and invite links like `https://t.me/+AbCdEf123`, mixed freely.
2. Click **Start**.
3. Download your results as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "usernames": [
    "durov",
    "@BotFather",
    "https://t.me/telegram",
    "https://t.me/s/cointelegraph",
    "https://t.me/+AbCdEf123"
  ]
}
```

Every common format works: plain usernames, `@username`, `t.me/username`, `t.me/s/username`, `telegram.me/username`, `username.t.me`, `tg://resolve?domain=username`, and invite links (`t.me/+code`, `t.me/joinchat/code`). Upper and lower case are the same username, and duplicates are checked once.

### What you get

One row per username or invite link. This is a real result for `https://t.me/s/cointelegraph`:

```json
{
  "input": "https://t.me/s/cointelegraph",
  "username": "cointelegraph",
  "url": "https://t.me/cointelegraph",
  "exists": true,
  "type": "channel",
  "name": "Cointelegraph",
  "bio": "The Future of Money\n\nUnbiased crypto, markets & Web3 news in real-time. Trusted since 2013. …\n\nFor ads: advertise@cointelegraph.com",
  "photoUrl": "https://cdn4.telesco.pe/file/Xmz-XYfuskNji34TUBd91rotQ0eN….jpg",
  "verified": false,
  "subscribers": 328387,
  "links": ["https://linktr.ee/cointelegraph_mobile"],
  "emails": ["advertise@cointelegraph.com"],
  "lastPostAt": "2026-10-25T00:32:37.000Z",
  "postsPerWeek": 67.5,
  "averageViews": 8868,
  "engagementRate": 2.7,
  "totalPhotos": 20900,
  "totalVideos": 1290,
  "totalFiles": 4,
  "totalLinks": 58500,
  "checkedAt": "2026-10-25T01:51:47.756Z"
}
```

Each type comes with its own numbers:

| Type | What you get |
|---|---|
| Channel | `subscribers`, plus `lastPostAt`, `postsPerWeek`, `averageViews`, `engagementRate` (average views as a % of subscribers), and totals of photos, videos, files, and links posted |
| Group | `members`, `membersOnline` |
| Bot | `monthlyUsers` |
| User | name, bio, photo |

Here is how different kinds of rows look side by side:

| Checked | exists | type | name | Numbers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `ton_society` | true | group | TON Сообщество | members: 298 |
| `@BotFather` | true | bot | BotFather | monthlyUsers: 7,485,093 |
| `anton` | true | user | Anton Rosenberg | — |
| `rian_ru` | true | channel | РИА Новости | subscribers: 3,027,852, postsPerWeek: 347.6 |
| `https://t.me/+AbCdEf123` | false | — | — | — |
| `zxqv_unused_name_8842` | false | — | — | — |

Every bio is scanned for `links`, `mentions` (other Telegram usernames, like admins or support accounts), and `emails`. Usernames nobody holds come back as `"exists": false`, and so do invite links that no longer open a chat. A working invite link comes back with the group or channel's name, photo, and member or subscriber count, with the invite as `url` and no `username`, since those chats are private. Every row also keeps your entry exactly as you typed it in `input`, so you can match results back to your list.

The Output tab has three ready-made tables: **Overview**, **Channel stats**, and **Contacts**, plus **Usernames to retry** for any entry Telegram didn't answer for during the run.

### Telegram channel analytics

For every public channel you get the stats ad buyers look at first:

- **Subscribers** — the live subscriber count
- **Posts per week** — how often the channel posts, measured over its latest posts up to now; for most busy channels that covers at least the last day
- **Average views** — views on recent posts, counting posts at least a day old whenever there are some, once their views have settled
- **Engagement rate (ERR)** — average views as a percentage of subscribers
- **Last post** — so you can spot channels that went quiet
- **Media totals** — photos, videos, files, and links posted over the channel's lifetime

Need the posts themselves — text, views, and media for every post? Use [Telegram Channel Scraper](https://apify.com/vero-api/telegram-channel-scraper).

### Pricing

Pay only for the usernames you check: **$1 per 1,000 usernames or invite links**, with channel stats and bio contacts included. No subscriptions, no surprises. Entries that aren't usernames are skipped for free, and so are any Telegram didn't answer for.

### Run it from your code or AI assistant

Start a run and get the results in one call with the Apify API:

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/vero-api~telegram-username-checker/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"usernames": ["durov", "@BotFather", "https://t.me/telegram"]}'
```

From JavaScript:

```js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: 'YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN' });
const run = await client.actor('vero-api/telegram-username-checker').call({
  usernames: ['durov', '@BotFather', 'https://t.me/telegram'],
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```

AI assistants such as Claude or Cursor can run it through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com): add `vero-api/telegram-username-checker` as a tool and ask, for example, "Check these Telegram channels and show their engagement rate."

### Integrations

Send your results wherever you work: Google Sheets, Slack, Zapier, Make, n8n, webhooks, or your own app through the Apify API. Schedule the run weekly to track subscriber growth and posting activity over time.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Telegram account or API keys?** No. Paste your usernames and start.

**How many usernames can I check at once?** As many as you like — thousands per run. Duplicates are checked once.

**Can I check invite links?** Yes. Paste `t.me/+code` or `t.me/joinchat/code` links to get the group or channel name, description, photo, and member or subscriber count. A link that no longer works comes back as `"exists": false`.

**How are channel stats calculated?** From the channel's latest posts. Posts per week covers those posts up to now, and for most busy channels reaches at least a day back. Average views counts posts at least a day old whenever the channel has some among its latest posts, so a post published minutes ago doesn't pull the number down. Engagement rate is average views as a percentage of subscribers.

**What does "not in use" mean?** No person, bot, channel, or group holds the username right now. Some short usernames are sold as collectibles on Telegram's Fragment marketplace, so a name that is not in use may still be owned there.

**What if some usernames can't be checked?** They are not charged and are listed under **Usernames to retry** in the Output tab, so you can run just those again.

**Can I call it like an API?** Yes — see "Run it from your code or AI assistant" above.

**How fresh is the data?** Every run checks Telegram live, so counts, stats, and profiles are current.

**Is this an official Telegram tool?** No. This actor is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Telegram. It reads the same public pages anyone can open at t.me.
