## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Screenshot Generator: Full Page, Mobile, PDF

Turn any list of links, or your own HTML, into clean, pixel-perfect screenshots and PDFs, on desktop, iPhone, Android, and iPad, in one run. Cookie banners and ads are removed for you, and every image comes with a share-ready link.

### Why people choose it

- **Every device in one run.** Pick desktop, iPhone 15 Pro, Pixel 7, iPad Pro, and more, and get one screenshot per page per device.
- **Clean shots, automatically.** Cookie pop-ups, ads, newsletter boxes, and chat bubbles are gone before the picture is taken.
- **The whole page, top to bottom.** Full-page capture with lazy-loaded images and scroll-in sections filled in, or just what fits on the screen.
- **Logos stay visible.** Logo strips and looping animations are paused where they are instead of disappearing.
- **Fast on busy pages.** Pages open in their calm, reduced-motion version, so animation-rich sites come back in seconds, not minutes.
- **PNG, JPEG, or PDF.** Sharp images for reports and previews, small files for the web, or a printable PDF in A4, Letter, and more.
- **HTML to image or PDF.** Paste your own HTML, like an invoice or a social card, and get it back as a PNG, JPEG, or PDF.
- **Built for big batches.** Each page takes seconds, and giving the run more memory captures more pages at once.
- **Fair pricing.** $6 per 1,000 screenshots with platform costs included. Pages that can't be captured are free.

### What you can do

- **Capture one part of a page**, like a pricing table, a chart, or a hero banner.
- **See dark mode** on sites that support it.
- **Go Retina** with 2x or 3x pixel density for razor-sharp images.
- **See a page as a local does**: set the language and time zone, like German in Berlin or Japanese in Tokyo.
- **Capture pages behind a login** by pasting your browser cookies.
- **Make the page yours** before the shot: hide any element, restyle it, or click a tab first.
- **Turn HTML into files**: invoices, reports, certificates, and share cards rendered on any device.
- **Keep a visual history**: schedule a daily run and watch any site change over time.

### Popular uses

- **Competitor and price monitoring**: a dated snapshot of rival home pages and pricing pages every day.
- **Website QA**: check every key page on every device after each release.
- **Reports and audits**: drop full-page captures into client reports, SEO audits, and pitch decks.
- **Archiving and compliance**: keep a dated record of how a page looked, as an image or PDF.
- **Social and link previews**: capture the top of any page for directories, newsletters, and dashboards, or render your own share card from HTML.
- **Documents from templates**: send invoice or report HTML from your app and get a ready-to-send PDF back.

### How to use it

1. Paste the pages you want. Bare domains like `apify.com` work too. Or paste your own HTML into **HTML to capture**.
2. Pick your devices and file format.
3. Click **Start**.
4. Preview every screenshot in the Output tab, or download the results as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

### What you get

One result per page and device, with a direct link to the file:

```json
{
  "url": "https://apify.com/",
  "inputUrl": "apify.com",
  "finalUrl": "https://apify.com/",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "title": "Apify: Full-stack web scraping and data extraction platform",
  "device": "iphone-15-pro",
  "format": "png",
  "screenshotUrl": "https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/AbC123/records/screenshot-apify-com-iphone-15-pro-b2cbecea.png?signature=xyz",
  "screenshotKey": "screenshot-apify-com-iphone-15-pro-b2cbecea.png",
  "width": 393,
  "height": 12660,
  "fileSizeBytes": 599634,
  "takenAt": "2026-10-24T09:15:02.118Z"
}
```

Every `screenshotUrl` opens without logging in, so you can share it or drop it straight into a report, a Slack message, or a spreadsheet. `inputUrl` keeps the address exactly as you typed it, so results match back to your list. For HTML you pasted, the three address fields are empty.

Pages that couldn't be captured are listed under **Pages not captured** in the Output tab (the `failed-pages` file in the run's storage), each with its address, device, and reason, so you know exactly what to retry:

```json
[
  { "url": "https://example.com/old-page", "inputUrl": "example.com/old-page", "device": "desktop", "reason": "The page took too long to load or capture" }
]
```

| Device | Screen width |
|---|---|
| Desktop | 1280 px (adjustable from 200 to 3840) |
| iPhone 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max / 14 | 393 / 430 / 390 px |
| Google Pixel 7 · Samsung Galaxy S9+ | 412 / 320 px |
| iPad Pro 11" · iPad Mini · Galaxy Tab S9 | 834 / 768 / 640 px |

### Run it from your code

```js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: '<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>' });
const run = await client.actor('vero-api/website-screenshot').call({
  urls: ['https://apify.com', 'https://stripe.com'],
  devices: ['desktop', 'iphone-15-pro'],
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items.map((item) => item.screenshotUrl));
```

Turn your own HTML into a PDF the same way:

```js
const run = await client.actor('vero-api/website-screenshot').call({
  html: '<html><body><h1>Invoice #1042</h1><p>Total: $120.00</p></body></html>',
  format: 'pdf',
});
```

Works the same from Python, Make, Zapier, n8n, or any tool that can call the Apify API.

### Use it from your AI assistant (MCP)

Ask Claude, Cursor, VS Code, or any assistant that supports MCP to screenshot a page in plain words. Add this server to its MCP settings:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "website-screenshot": {
      "url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=vero-api/website-screenshot"
    }
  }
}
```

Then just ask, for example:

- *"Take a full-page screenshot of stripe.com on desktop and iPhone."*
- *"Save the Wikipedia article on web scraping as an A4 PDF."*

### Pricing

**$6 per 1,000 screenshots** ($0.006 each), with platform costs included: no subscriptions, no surprises. You pay only for the screenshots you get:

- One screenshot or PDF per page and device counts as one result.
- Error pages, like a 404, are captured just as visitors see them and count as a result.
- Pages that can't be reached or loaded cost nothing.
- The run stops right at the spending limit you set.

### FAQ

**Can I capture pages that need a login?** Yes. Export your cookies with a browser extension like Cookie-Editor and paste them into **Cookies**. You get the page exactly as you see it when logged in.

**Can I turn my own HTML into an image or PDF?** Yes. Paste a complete HTML page into **HTML to capture** and pick PNG, JPEG, or PDF. Use full `https://` links for images, styles, and fonts. It's captured once per device you pick, alongside any websites in the same run.

**How do I capture a page that loads more as you scroll?** Lazy-loaded images in full-page shots, single elements, and PDFs are filled in automatically. For feeds and endless lists that keep loading more, turn on **Scroll to load everything**.

**How do I see which pages weren't captured?** Open **Pages not captured** in the Output tab. It lists every one with the reason, and none of them are charged.

**How do I capture just one part of the page?** In Chrome, right-click the part you want, choose **Inspect**, then right-click the highlighted line and pick **Copy → Copy selector**. Paste it into **Capture one element**.

**My page has charts or animations that load slowly.** Set **Wait until** to "Network is quiet", add a **Wait for element**, or add a few seconds of **Extra wait**.

**How long can a full-page screenshot be?** Up to 16,384 pixels tall, about 20 screens on a laptop. Longer pages are captured from the top down to that height.

**Can I take screenshots on a schedule?** Yes. Create a schedule in Apify Console to capture the same pages every hour, day, or week.

**How long are my files kept?** Screenshots stay in your Apify storage for your plan's data retention period. Download them or send them to Google Drive, Dropbox, or S3 with an integration to keep them longer.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

The pages to capture, one per line. Bare domains like apify.com work too.

## `html` (type: `string`):

Paste a complete HTML page to turn it into an image or PDF, like an invoice, a report, or a social card. Use full https:// links for images, styles, and fonts. It's captured once per device, along with any websites above.

## `format` (type: `string`):

PNG for sharp, lossless images. JPEG for smaller files. PDF for a printable document.

## `fullPage` (type: `boolean`):

Capture the whole page from top to bottom, up to 16,384 pixels tall. Turn off to capture only what fits on the screen.

## `devices` (type: `array`):

Capture each page as it looks on these devices. Pick several to get one screenshot per device.

## `viewportWidth` (type: `integer`):

Screen width for desktop screenshots. 1280 fits a laptop, 1920 a full HD monitor.

## `viewportHeight` (type: `integer`):

Screen height for desktop screenshots. Sets the image height when "Capture the full page" is off.

## `scale` (type: `integer`):

1 for standard screens, 2 for crisp Retina-quality images, 3 for the sharpest detail.

## `quality` (type: `integer`):

Image quality for JPEG files, from 1 to 100. 80 is a great balance of size and sharpness.

## `closeCookieBanners` (type: `boolean`):

Dismiss cookie consent pop-ups so they don't cover the page.

## `blockAds` (type: `boolean`):

Remove ads, newsletter pop-ups, and chat widgets for a clean, distraction-free shot.

## `hideSelectors` (type: `array`):

Anything else to remove, by its CSS selector, like .promo-bar or #chat-widget.

## `darkMode` (type: `boolean`):

Show the page in dark mode on sites that support it.

## `disableAnimations` (type: `boolean`):

Pause animations, background videos, and blinking cursors so every screenshot comes out sharp, consistent, and fast.

## `transparentBackground` (type: `boolean`):

PNG only. Keeps the background see-through on pages that don't paint one. Great for logos and widgets.

## `elementSelector` (type: `string`):

Capture a single part of the page instead of the whole thing, like #pricing or .hero. In Chrome: right-click it, Inspect, then Copy → Copy selector.

## `waitUntil` (type: `string`):

When the page counts as ready. "Network is quiet" waits for late-loading images and data.

## `waitForSelector` (type: `string`):

Wait until this part of the page shows up before capturing, like .product-grid.

## `delayMs` (type: `integer`):

Extra time to wait just before capturing, for slow charts, maps, or videos.

## `scrollToBottom` (type: `boolean`):

Keep scrolling until pages that load more as you scroll, like feeds and endless lists, stop growing. Lazy-loaded images in full-page shots, single elements, and PDFs are filled in either way.

## `pageLoadTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

How long to give each page to load. Raise it for very slow sites.

## `cookies` (type: `array`):

Capture pages as a logged-in visitor. Export your cookies with a browser extension like Cookie-Editor and paste the JSON here.

## `locale` (type: `string`):

Browser language, like de-DE or fr-FR. Sites that adapt to your language will show it.

## `timezone` (type: `string`):

Browser time zone, like Europe/Paris or America/New_York. Dates and times on the page follow it.

## `headers` (type: `object`):

Extra information sent with every page visit, like {"Accept-Language": "de-DE"}.

## `userAgent` (type: `string`):

Leave empty to match the chosen device. Set it only when a site needs a specific browser.

## `customCss` (type: `string`):

Restyle the page before capturing, like body { font-size: 18px; }.

## `customScript` (type: `string`):

Code that runs on the page before capturing, like clicking a tab or opening a menu. You can use await.

## `pdfPaperFormat` (type: `string`):

Page size for PDF files.

## `pdfLandscape` (type: `boolean`):

Lay PDF pages out sideways.

## `pdfPrintBackground` (type: `boolean`):

Keep background colors and images in the PDF, just like on screen.
