## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Federal Grant Opportunity Finder

> This product uses the Grants.gov API but is not endorsed or certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Find US federal grants you can actually apply for. This Actor searches open and forecasted federal funding opportunities through the official public grants API, then adds the details that matter: award ceiling, number of awards, who is eligible, funding category, deadline and a short plain-text summary.

No web scraping. No login. No API key.

### What can it do?

- Search by keyword across all federal grant opportunities
- Filter by applicant type (nonprofits, small businesses, tribes, cities, schools and more), funding category and agency
- Keep only grants that close within your window, or that leave you enough time to apply
- Skip grants below a minimum award size
- **Only new since last run**: schedule it weekly and see just the fresh opportunities
- Results sorted by deadline, soonest first

### Who is it for?

- Nonprofits and grant writers building a pipeline
- Cities, counties, school districts and tribes tracking funding
- Small businesses and consultants watching research and development funding

### How much does it cost?

You pay per grant opportunity returned, plus a tiny start fee per run. See the Pricing tab. A weekly alert that returns 25 grants costs about 4 cents.

### Privacy and data notes

- Agency contact names, emails and phone numbers are left out. Emails and phone numbers are also removed from summaries.
- Content is shown as published by the government. Always confirm deadlines and eligibility in the official notice before applying.
- This Actor is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency.

### FAQ

**How fresh is it?** Every run queries the live public API, so results are current.

**Why is the award ceiling sometimes empty?** Some agencies do not publish a ceiling. Read the summary or the official notice.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab with your input.
