## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## French Product Recalls (RappelConso)

Search and monitor **official French product recalls** (rappels de produits) published by the French government on **RappelConso** — the official recall portal run by the DGCCRF. Covers food safety recalls (listeria, salmonella, allergens), vehicles, toys, electrical appliances, cosmetics and more. Recherchez les **rappels produits officiels en France** (alimentation, jouets, véhicules, électroménager).

This actor is **free** — you only pay your own Apify platform usage.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `queries` | array of strings | Search terms (product, brand, category, risk...). Empty string = latest recalls. |
| `maxResults` | integer | Max recalls per query (1-500, default 50). |

### Output

One dataset item per recall, with a `status` field (`found` / `not_found` / `error`):

```json
{
  "status": "found",
  "query": "chocolat",
  "recallId": "2025-07-0033",
  "publishedAt": "2025-07-03T16:30:50+00:00",
  "product": "mousse au chocolat noir 100g grandeur nature",
  "category": "alimentation",
  "brand": "Grandeur Nature",
  "recallReason": "presence de Listeria monocytogenes",
  "risks": "Listeria monocytogenes (agent responsable de la listeriose)",
  "consumerInstructions": "Ne plus consommer",
  "distributors": "...",
  "recallPageUrl": "https://rappel.conso.gouv.fr/fiche-rappel/.../Interne"
}
```

### Use cases

- Monitor recalls for your brand, product category or supplier and get alerted early.
- Compliance & quality teams: automated watch on food-safety recalls (listeria, salmonella...).
- Journalists & consumer apps: latest recalls feed, enriched with images and official links.
- E-commerce: check that products you sell are not under an active recall.

### Limitations & fair use

Data comes from the official French open-data API (data.economie.gouv.fr, dataset `rappelconso-v2-gtin-espaces`, open licence). The actor applies polite delays between requests. Results are capped at 500 per query.
