## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play & App Store Reviews Scraper

Get **app reviews from Google Play and the App Store** in one clean format: **stars, title, text, date, app version, helpful count and the developer's reply**, plus a **rating snapshot** for every app (average rating and number of ratings). Paste app links or IDs, choose newest or most relevant first, filter by stars or date, and schedule it with **only-new reviews** to get review alerts. Add **full app details** (installs, category, price, developer, version, update date, what's new, similar apps) or run **keyword app searches** to see which apps rank for a term (ASO competitor lists).

You pay **per review delivered**, about **$0.10 per 1,000 Google Play reviews** and **$0.15 per 1,000 App Store reviews**. No subscription, no API key.

Built for:

- **App developers and product managers**: read what users say after each release, catch bugs and complaints early.
- **Support and community teams**: get new 1-2 star reviews every morning, with the rating change per app.
- **ASO agencies and app marketers**: competitor reviews, store details and keyword rankings in one dataset.
- **Researchers and AI teams**: review text by version, country and language for analysis and sentiment models.

### What you get

| Row (`type`) | What's in it | Charged |
|---|---|---|
| `review` | `store`, `appId`, `appTitle`, `position`, `reviewId`, `rating` (1-5), `title` (App Store), `text`, `publishedAt` (UTC; App Store dates are day-precision, see `publishedDateOnly`), `version`, `helpfulCount`, `developerReply`, `developerReplyAt` (Google Play), `country`, `language`, `url` | `review` (Google Play) or `app-store-review` |
| `app` | one per app: `appTitle`, `rating`, `ratingsCount`, `status` (`ok`, `no_new_reviews`, `no_matching_reviews`, `not_found`), `reviewsDelivered`, `averageRatingDelivered`, `ratingCountsDelivered`, `newestReviewAt`, and in only-new mode `ratingChange`, `ratingsCountChange`, `previousCheckAt`. With app details on: `installs`, `installsCount`, `category`, `price`, `isFree`, `developer`, `developerWebsite`, `version`, `size`, `minimumOsVersion`, `contentRating`, `releasedAt`, `updatedAt`, `whatsNew`, `description`, `screenshots`, `similarApps`, `moreAppsByDeveloper` | `app`, plus `app-details` when details are on |
| `search-result` | one per app found for a keyword: `keyword`, `store`, `rank`, `appId`, `appTitle`, `developer`, `rating`, `ratingsCount`, `isFree`, `price`, `url`, `iconUrl` | `search-result` (+ `app-search` per keyword and store) |

### Input examples

Newest 200 reviews of one app on each store:

```json
{ "apps": ["https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duolingo", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id570060128"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 200 }
```

Daily negative-review alerts (schedule it): only new 1-2 star reviews since the last run:

```json
{ "apps": ["com.yourcompany.app", "1234567890"], "minRating": 1, "maxRating": 2, "onlyNewReviews": true,
  "monitorId": "my-apps" }
```

ASO: the ranked apps for two keywords in both stores, plus full details for three competitors:

```json
{ "searchKeywords": ["budget planner", "expense tracker"], "apps": ["com.ynab.evergreen.app", "com.mint"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 0, "includeAppDetails": true }
```

**Tips**

- **Apps**: a Google Play link or package name (`com.duolingo`), or an App Store link or numeric id (`570060128`). The store is detected automatically.
- **Country** matters: App Store reviews are separate per country storefront, and the **App Store shows at most 500 reviews per app per country**. Run other countries for more. Google Play allows up to 10,000 reviews per app per run here.
- **Star filters**: a single value (e.g. min = max = 1) is filtered by Google Play itself, so you only pay for matching reviews. Ranges are filtered after fetching; reviews that don't match are never charged.
- **Only new reviews** remembers the reviews already delivered in your Apify account (key-value store `app-reviews-monitor`), or per **Monitor name** if you set one. The first run returns the latest reviews as a baseline. Later runs check one page per app and stop there when nothing is new, so quiet days cost only the `app` event per app.
- Runs usually finish in **under a minute**.

### Output example (one review)

```json
{
  "type": "review", "store": "google_play", "appId": "com.duolingo", "appTitle": "Duolingo: Learn Languages",
  "position": 1, "reviewId": "5bf076b2-8b4b-4221-b3f0-fa2f99c3ffb2", "rating": 5, "title": null,
  "text": "Fun way to keep my streak going...", "publishedAt": "2026-10-16T14:27:45Z", "publishedDateOnly": false,
  "version": "6.101.2", "helpfulCount": null, "developerReply": null, "country": "United States", "language": "en",
  "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duolingo", "chargedEvents": ["review"]
}
```

The dataset has four views: **Overview**, **Reviews (all fields)**, **Apps** and **App search results**. Export to CSV, Excel or JSON, or connect it to Google Sheets, Slack, Zapier or Make through Apify integrations.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | When it is charged |
|---|---|
| Actor start | once per run |
| `review` | one Google Play review delivered |
| `app-store-review` | one App Store review delivered |
| `app` | one app checked: its rating snapshot (and changes in only-new mode). Also charged when nothing is new or no app exists for the id, because the store is still queried |
| `app-details` | full store details for one app (only with app details on) |
| `app-search` | one keyword searched in one store (also when the store returns no apps) |
| `search-result` | one app returned by a keyword search |

You are not charged for:

- reviews removed by your star or date filters, and reviews already delivered in only-new mode;
- failed requests (the run says which inputs failed), invalid or duplicate inputs;
- anything beyond your run's maximum charge. The run stops cleanly and lists what it didn't process.

**Apify free plan:** 2 apps with up to 500 reviews each (app details included) and 2 search keywords per run. Any paid Apify plan unlocks up to 100 apps, 10,000 reviews per app and 50 keywords.

### Privacy

Reviewer names and avatars are personal data, so they are **left out by default**. Turn on **Include reviewer names** only if you need them and have a lawful basis to process them. Developer support emails and postal addresses (often a person's for indie developers) are also off unless you turn on **Include developer email and address**. Only-new history stores hashed review IDs, never names, in your own Apify account; delete the key-value store to reset it.

### Use from AI agents (MCP)

AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can run this Actor through [Apify's MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp) (`https://mcp.apify.com`). The agent can look up the Actor, read its input schema, run it and read the results. Runs use your own Apify account and are charged at the prices on this page.

- **Actor name:** `vncntlabs/app-reviews-scraper`
- **Server URL with only this tool:** `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=vncntlabs/app-reviews-scraper`. The default `https://mcp.apify.com` also works.
- **Claude** (desktop app or claude.ai): Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, paste the server URL, then sign in to Apify.
- **ChatGPT:** turn on Developer mode, then Settings > Apps & Connectors > Create, paste the server URL and choose OAuth.
- **Cursor:** add the server to `mcp.json`:

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "apify": { "url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=vncntlabs/app-reviews-scraper" } } }
```

Example prompt: *"Use the Apify Actor vncntlabs/app-reviews-scraper to get the newest 100 one- and two-star reviews of com.duolingo on Google Play and summarise the top complaints."*

To cap the cost of an agent's run, it can pass `maxTotalChargeUsd` in the run options.

### FAQ

**Where does the data come from?** From DataForSEO's licensed App Data API, which reads the public Google Play and App Store pages for the country and language you choose. The Actor does not log in anywhere.

**Why fewer App Store reviews than I asked for?** The App Store shows at most 500 reviews per app per country (most recent or most helpful). Use other countries for more.

**Why is `title` empty on Google Play?** Google Play reviews have no title; App Store reviews do. Google Play reviews carry the developer's reply instead.

**Can I get reviews for apps I find with a keyword search?** Run the search first, then paste the `appId` values into **Apps**.

**Is this an official Google or Apple API?** No. This Actor uses DataForSEO's licensed API and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or Apple. Google Play is a trademark of Google LLC; App Store is a trademark of Apple Inc.
