## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Video Details: Views, Likes, Channel & Subscribers

You already have the link. What you need is the numbers: views, likes, comments, how long it is, when it went up, and
how big the channel is. Paste video links or IDs and get one clean row per video. Missing or private videos get a clear
status row and are **never charged**.

### What you get

- **Title, description, URL, thumbnail**
- **Views, likes, comments count**
- **Duration** (clock + seconds) and **publish date**
- **isLive** and **isEmbeddable** when the provider returns them
- **Subtitle language list** (language, auto-generated, translatable)
- **Channel** name, id, URL, logo and **subscriber count**
- A **status** on every row: `ok`, `not_found`, `error` or `invalid_input`

### Input

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `videos` | YouTube links (watch, youtu.be, Shorts, embed, live) or 11-character video IDs (up to 1,000) |
| `country` | Country edition (name or 2-letter code). Defaults to United States |
| `language` | Language code (e.g. `en`, `de`). Defaults to the country's main language |
| `maxVideos` | Hard cap for this run (default 100, max 1,000). Free Apify plans are limited to 10 |

```json
{
  "videos": [
    "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQXAC9IVRw",
    "https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ",
    "kJQP7kiw5Fk"
  ]
}
```

### Output (one row per video)

```json
{
  "type": "video", "status": "ok", "videoId": "jNQXAC9IVRw",
  "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQXAC9IVRw",
  "title": "Me at the zoo", "channelName": "jawed",
  "channelId": "UC4QobU6STFB0P71PMvOGN5A",
  "channelUrl": "https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4QobU6STFB0P71PMvOGN5A",
  "subscribers": 6730000, "views": 447874551, "likes": 20130394, "comments": 10646255,
  "duration": "00:19", "durationSeconds": 19, "isLive": false,
  "subtitleLanguages": [{"language": "en", "autoGenerated": false, "translatable": true}],
  "charged": true
}
```

A missing or private video:

```json
{ "type": "video", "status": "not_found", "videoId": "xxxxxxxxxxx",
  "error": "Video not found, private, or unavailable", "charged": false }
```

### Pricing

- **$0.005 per video with details delivered** (event `transcript`, titled "Video details" on this Actor).
- **$0.005 per run** start fee (`apify-actor-start`).
- **Not charged:** missing or private videos, provider errors, invalid inputs, duplicates.
- Set a maximum charge per run and the Actor stops there. Apify free plan: up to 10 videos per run.

### Use from AI agents (MCP)

AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can run this Actor through [Apify's MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp) (`https://mcp.apify.com`). The agent can look up the Actor, read its input schema, run it and read the results. Runs use your own Apify account and are charged at the prices on this page.

- **Actor name:** `vncntlabs/youtube-video-details`
- **Server URL with only this tool:** `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=vncntlabs/youtube-video-details`. The default `https://mcp.apify.com` also works.
- **Claude** (desktop app or claude.ai): Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, paste the server URL, then sign in to Apify.
- **ChatGPT:** turn on Developer mode, then Settings > Apps & Connectors > Create, paste the server URL and choose OAuth.
- **Cursor:** add the server to `mcp.json`:

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "apify": { "url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=vncntlabs/youtube-video-details" } } }
```

Example prompt: *"Use the Apify Actor vncntlabs/youtube-video-details to get views, likes and subscriber count for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQXAC9IVRw and https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ."*

To cap the cost of an agent's run, it can pass `maxTotalChargeUsd` in the run options.

### FAQ

**Do I need a YouTube login?** No. Details come from a licensed SERP data API.
**What about private or deleted videos?** You get a free `not_found` row. Nothing is charged.
**How fast?** A handful of videos usually finishes in under a minute. Larger batches use a standard priority queue with a 60-second hedge so a slow queue doesn't fail Apify's daily quality check.
**Can I pull a whole channel's videos?** Not in this version. Pass the video links or IDs you already have (for example from our YouTube Search Scraper). A full channel listing needs a licensed channel endpoint we don't have yet.
**Does this return the transcript?** No. Use [YouTube Transcript Scraper](https://apify.com/vncntlabs/youtube-transcript-scraper) for captions.
