## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## SEC EDGAR Filings Scraper

Get a company's **recent SEC filings** — form type, filing date, accession number and a direct document URL — by ticker or CIK, via the official SEC EDGAR API.

### What it does

Turn tickers (or CIKs) into a clean list of that company's filings, optionally filtered to specific forms like 10-K or 8-K. Built for financial research, monitoring and compliance workflows.

### Example output

```json
{
  "cik": "0000320193",
  "company": "Apple Inc.",
  "form": "10-K",
  "filingDate": "2025-11-01",
  "reportDate": "2025-09-27",
  "accessionNumber": "0000320193-25-000100",
  "filingUrl": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000032019325000100/aapl-20250927.htm",
  "description": null
}
```

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `tickers` | Stock tickers to resolve to companies (one per entry). |
| `ciks` | SEC CIK numbers to fetch directly. |
| `formTypes` | Optional filter, e.g. `10-K`, `10-Q`, `8-K`. |
| `maxItems` | Hard cap on filings returned (cost protection). |

### Pricing

Pay per result. **1,000 filings ≈ $2** (see the pricing tab). You are only charged for filings actually returned.

### Limits & notes

- Returns the company's most recent filings (up to ~1,000 per company). Deep history archives are not included in this version.
- Uses a descriptive User-Agent as required by SEC's access policy.

### Legal

Uses the public SEC EDGAR API (US government open data). No login or paywall is bypassed.

### Support

Issues answered within **12 hours** — include your input and run ID.
