## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube Gaming Trends Scraper

Collect ranked video cards from the public YouTube Gaming page. The actor reads the public HTML response and embedded initial data only; it does not use private YouTube client APIs, stealth, CAPTCHA solving, or browser fingerprint spoofing.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `maxItems` | `50` | Maximum unique video cards, from 1 to 200. |
| `countryCode` | `US` | Two-letter region for the public Gaming page. |
| `locale` | `en-US` | Page locale in language-country form. |
| `includeDiagnostics` | `true` | Emit exact four-field diagnostics for blocked or unusable pages. |
| `enableProxyFallback` | `true` | Try standard account-authorized Apify Proxy after direct access fails. |
| `maxRetries` | `2` | Bounded retries per route, from 0 to 3. |
| `requestDelayMs` | `250` | Bounded pacing setting. |
| `requestTimeoutSecs` | `60` | Public-page timeout, from 15 to 180 seconds. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | — | Standard Apify Proxy or credential-free HTTP/SOCKS proxy configuration. |

### Output

Each video record includes rank and section, canonical video URL/ID, title and description, description length, thumbnail URL and all public thumbnail variants, channel identity and URL, displayed and parsed views, publication text, duration and parsed seconds, live state, badges, public rich metadata, game/category labels when YouTube supplies them, region/locale, source-page URL, extraction method, metadata source, and timestamp. Optional values are omitted when the public page does not expose them.

Diagnostics contain exactly `url`, `error`, `errorCode`, and `scrapedAt`. The `OUTPUT` key-value record summarizes counts, failures/blocks, proxy state, locale, and duration.

### Verification

```text
npm test
npx apify validate-schema .actor/input_schema.json
npx apify run --purge --input-file qa-inputs/youtube-gaming-trends-scraper/local-validation.json
npm run validate-dataset
npx apify actors call <ACTOR_ID> --build latest --input-file qa-inputs/youtube-gaming-trends-scraper/cloud-validation.json --timeout 300 --json
```
