## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Scraper: app search, keyword rank & app details (official API)

Look up any iOS app's public details (name, seller, rating, rating count, price, version, genre, bundle id, description) and check where apps rank for a search keyword in a given App Store storefront. Uses Apple's official public iTunes Search and Lookup API. No login, no API key, no proxies.

### Who it's for

- ASO (App Store Optimization) teams checking keyword rank and competitor ratings
- Indie developers doing app and niche research before building
- Analysts tracking which apps show up for a term, country by country

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| `keywords` | string list | `["habit tracker"]` | Search terms. Each result row carries its rank for that term |
| `apps` | string list | `[]` | App ids (e.g. `618783545`) or apps.apple.com URLs, to look up |
| `country` | string | `us` | Two-letter storefront code |
| `limit` | integer | 50 | Results per keyword, 1 to 200 |

Example input:

```json
{
  "keywords": ["budget app", "expense tracker"],
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/slack/id618783545"],
  "country": "us",
  "limit": 25
}
```

Example output rows:

```json
{"keyword": "budget app", "rank": 1, "trackId": "123456789", "name": "Example Budget", "seller": "Example Inc.", "price": 0, "averageUserRating": 4.7, "userRatingCount": 1820, "version": "3.2.0", "primaryGenre": "Finance", "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/..."}
{"keyword": null, "rank": null, "trackId": "618783545", "name": "Slack", "seller": "Slack Technologies", "averageUserRating": 4.8, "userRatingCount": 500000, "version": "4.38.1", "primaryGenre": "Business", "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/slack/id618783545"}
```

Each row has: `keyword`, `rank`, `trackId`, `name`, `seller`, `price`, `currency`, `averageUserRating`, `userRatingCount`, `version`, `releaseDate`, `currentVersionReleaseDate`, `primaryGenre`, `genres`, `bundleId`, `url`, `description`.

### Pricing

Pay per result: $0.0005 per row returned. The platform start fee is charged once per run.

### FAQ

**Is this the official data?** It uses Apple's public iTunes Search and Lookup API, the same data the App Store shows.

**What does rank mean?** The 1-based position of the app in Apple's search results for that keyword and storefront at the time of the run. It is a snapshot, so run it on a schedule to track changes.

**Can it fetch reviews?** Yes, use the companion actor `appstore-reviews-scraper` (reviews from Apple's public RSS feed, all storefronts).

### Other actors by wearefluent

- `appstore-reviews-scraper`: App Store customer reviews across up to ~150 storefronts.
- `dockerhub-repo-info`: Docker Hub repository stats and tag lists.
