## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### Pricing

**$1.00 per 1,000 apps** ($0.001 per app, cheaper on higher Apify plans) plus $0.005 per run start. A daily top-100 chart for one country costs about $0.10 a day. Apify's free plan credit covers thousands of apps a month.

### FAQ

**How many apps can I get per chart?** Up to 200, the size of the Google Play chart.

**How long does a run take?** One chart of 50 apps with details takes about 15 seconds. Very large runs (thousands of apps with details) can take several minutes, because Google Play slows down many detail requests from one server. Turn off *Include app details* if you only need ranks.

**Is this the same order as in the Google Play app?** Yes, the chart order Google Play publishes for that country. Google Play may personalise what an individual phone shows, so small differences are possible.

**Do you collect reviews or personal data?** No. Only public store listing data – no reviews, no user names and no developer contact details.

**I need iOS too.** Use our [App Store Top Charts Scraper](https://apify.com/webatola/app-store-charts) with the same output style.

### 🤖 Use with AI agents (MCP) and the API

- Works out of the box with the **Apify MCP server** (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients): the agent can search for this Actor, read the input schema and run it.
- For compact results, keep *Include full description* off and lower *Apps per chart*.
- API: `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/webatola~google-play-top-charts/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN` with the input JSON as the body returns the results directly.

### Is it legal?

The Actor reads only **public** store listing data that anyone can see on Google Play, at a moderate pace. No personal data, no reviews, no login and no bypassing of any protection. Make sure your use complies with Google's terms and your local laws.

### Feedback

Missing a field, chart or country? Open an issue in the *Issues* tab – fixes are usually shipped within days.

If this Actor saved you some time, a quick rating in the Store helps other people find it. No pressure, only if you feel like it. Thank you!

# Actor input Schema

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter country codes of Google Play stores, lowercase or uppercase. Examples: us, gb, de, fr, in, br, cz. Each country × chart × category is one chart.

## `charts` (type: `array`):

Which Google Play charts to scrape.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Google Play categories. "All apps" = overall app chart, "All games" = overall game chart.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Number of top-ranked apps per chart, 1–200. Example: 10 for a quick check, 200 for the full chart.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Add ratings count, reviews count, installs, genre, version, last update, release date, content rating, ads and in-app purchases. Turn off for the fastest, most compact output (rank, title, developer, price, rating, URL).

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Include the full Google Play description (long text). Off by default for compact output.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language of titles and texts, e.g. en, de, cs, es. The chart itself always follows the country.

}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
All dataset items as JSON.
## `overview` (type: `string`):
Ranked apps in a table.
