## Pricing

from $1.00 / 1,000 trends

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Trending Now Scraper — Daily Trending Searches API

Get **today's trending searches from Google Trends** ("Trending now") for any country in seconds: the search term, approximate search volume, when the trend started, and the news articles Google links to it. Export to JSON, CSV or Excel, call it via API, or schedule it hourly.

- ⚡ **Fast and cheap** – plain HTTP, no browser. A run for 5 countries finishes in a few seconds.
- 🌍 **Many countries in one run** – US, GB, DE, CZ, IN, BR, JP… any Google Trends region.
- 📰 **Related news included** – headline, URL, publisher and image for every trend.
- 🔢 **Clean numbers** – "50K+" is also returned as `approxTrafficNumber: 50000` for sorting and alerts.
- 🤖 **Works with AI agents** – available through the Apify MCP server and API.

### What can I use it for?

- **Newsrooms and content teams** – spot breaking topics per market and write about them first.
- **SEO and content marketing** – find fresh keyword and article ideas every day.
- **Ad buying and e-commerce** – react to demand spikes before competitors.
- **Dashboards and alerts** – schedule it hourly and push new trends to Slack, Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or n8n.
- **AI agents and LLM apps** – give your agent a reliable "what is trending right now" tool.

### How to use it

1. Enter one or more **country codes** (e.g. `US`, `GB`, `CZ`).
2. Optionally set **Max trends per country** and whether to **include news**.
3. Click **Start**. Download the results or read them through the API.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "geos": ["US", "GB", "DE"],
  "maxItemsPerGeo": 20,
  "includeNews": true
}
```

### Output example

One dataset item per trending search:

```json
{
  "geo": "US",
  "rank": 1,
  "title": "carrie preston",
  "approxTraffic": "1000+",
  "approxTrafficNumber": 1000,
  "startedAt": "2026-10-18T13:20:00.000Z",
  "pictureUrl": "https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=...",
  "pictureSource": "TODAY.com",
  "exploreUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=carrie%20preston&date=now%201-d",
  "newsCount": 2,
  "news": [
    { "title": "Carrie Preston Unpacks 'Elsbeth' Season 4…", "url": "https://www.today.com/...", "source": "TODAY.com", "pictureUrl": "https://..." }
  ],
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-18T13:41:16.930Z"
}
```

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `geo` | Country code of the Google Trends region |
| `rank` | Position in the current trending list |
| `title` | Trending search term |
| `approxTraffic` / `approxTrafficNumber` | Approximate number of searches ("50K+" / 50000) |
| `startedAt` | When the search started trending (ISO 8601, UTC) |
| `news[]` | Related news articles: title, URL, publisher, image |
| `exploreUrl` | Link to the term in Google Trends Explore |

### How much does it cost?

Simple **pay-per-event pricing**, no compute charges:

- **$1.50 per 1,000 trends** (cheaper on Apify Bronze/Silver/Gold plans, down to $1.00) + **$0.005 per run**.
- Example: 1 country (≈10 trends) = **$0.02 per run**. Hourly for 5 countries (≈50 trends/run) ≈ $0.08 per run, ≈ $58 per month.
- You can cap the cost of any run with *Maximum cost per run* in the run options.

### Tips and limits

- Google publishes roughly **10–20 live trends per country** in this feed at any moment. For more coverage, run it on a schedule (e.g. hourly) and deduplicate by `geo` + `title`.
- The Actor normally needs **no proxy**. If you ever see HTTP 429 errors, enable Apify Proxy in the *Advanced* section.
- Interest-over-time history is not part of this Actor (yet).

### FAQ

**How many trends do I get per country?** Google publishes roughly 10–20 live trends per country at a time. Schedule the Actor hourly to capture more over a day.

**Can I get interest over time or related queries for a keyword?** Not in this Actor – it covers the *Trending now* list. Use it to discover topics, then analyze them in Google Trends Explore.

**Which countries are supported?** Every country Google Trends offers a *Trending now* page for (US, GB, DE, FR, IN, BR, JP, CZ…). Invalid codes are skipped with a warning.

**How fresh is the data?** Live at the moment of the run (`scrapedAt`); `startedAt` tells you when each trend began.

**Can I export to Google Sheets, Slack or Make?** Yes – use Apify integrations or webhooks, or download JSON/CSV/Excel.

### 🤖 Use with AI agents (MCP) and the API

- Works out of the box with the **Apify MCP server** (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients): the agent can search for this Actor, read the input schema and run it.
- For compact results that fit an LLM context, turn off the long-text options (see *Input*).
- API: `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/webatola~google-trends-trending-now/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN` with the input JSON as the body returns the results directly.

### Is it legal to scrape Google Trends?

The Actor reads only a **public** feed of aggregated trend data and news links – no personal data, no login, no bypassing of any protection. Make sure your use complies with Google's terms and the laws of your country. If in doubt, ask a lawyer.

# Actor input Schema

## `geos` (type: `array`):

Two-letter ISO country codes of Google Trends regions. Examples: US, GB, DE, FR, IN, BR, JP, CZ. One run can cover many countries; each returns its current trending searches.

## `maxItemsPerGeo` (type: `integer`):

Maximum trending searches saved per country (Google currently publishes about 10–20 live trends per country). Example: 5 for a quick top-5 check.

## `includeNews` (type: `boolean`):

Add the news articles Google links to each trend (title, URL, publisher, image). Turn off for compact output, e.g. for AI agents.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. The public feed normally works without a proxy. Enable Apify Proxy only if you see HTTP 429 errors.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "geos": [
    "US",
    "GB"
  ],
  "maxItemsPerGeo": 50,
  "includeNews": true,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

All trending searches (one dataset item per result) as JSON.

## `overview` (type: `string`):

The same results using the dataset's overview view with the most important fields.
