## Pricing

from $0.80 / 1,000 listings

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Gumtree Scraper (UK Listings & Prices)

### What is Gumtree Scraper?

Gumtree Scraper pulls search results from Gumtree.com, the UK classifieds site, for any keyword and category. For each listing it returns the title, the price in GBP, the location, the attributes shown on the card (such as year, mileage and fuel type), the featured flag, the main image and the listing link. It reads the server-rendered results pages over plain HTTP, so it needs no browser, no login and no proxy. It pages through the results until your limit is reached.

### What data does Gumtree Scraper extract?

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `title` | string | Listing title |
| `price` | number or null | Asking price in GBP, as a number |
| `priceText` | string or null | Price as shown on the card, e.g. "£4,995" |
| `currency` | string or null | "GBP" when the card shows a pound price |
| `location` | string or null | Town and area shown on the card |
| `attributes` | array | Attributes shown on the card, e.g. year, mileage, seller type, fuel, engine size |
| `featured` | boolean | True when the card carries a "Featured" badge |
| `imageUrl` | string | Main listing image |
| `url` | string | Listing page link |
| `listingId` | string | Gumtree listing number |
| `keyword`, `category`, `searchLocation`, `page`, `position` | mixed | Which search and results page produced the row |
| `scrapedAt` | string | ISO timestamp of the scrape |

The search card does not show the posting date, so this Actor does not return one.

### How to use Gumtree Scraper

1. Open the Actor and enter one or more keywords in **Search keywords**, separated by semicolons.
2. Set the **Gumtree category** (default `cars`) and, optionally, a **Location**.
3. Set **Max listings per keyword** (default 60).
4. Click **Start** and wait for the run to finish.
5. Download the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the API.

### Example input

```json
{
    "keywords": "ford fiesta; vauxhall corsa",
    "category": "cars",
    "maxItems": 40
}
```

### Example output

Real row from a run on 2026-10-23 (search "ford fiesta", category cars). Values are as shown on Gumtree at that time.

```json
{
    "listingId": "1803803554",
    "title": "2016 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec Hatchback 5dr Petrol Manual Euro 6 (82 ps) HATCHBACK Petrol Manual",
    "price": 4995,
    "priceText": "£4,995",
    "currency": "GBP",
    "location": "Reading, Berkshire",
    "attributes": ["2016", "71,650 miles", "Trade", "Petrol", "1,242 cc"],
    "featured": false,
    "imageUrl": "https://img.gumtree.com/ePR8PyKf84wPHx7_RYmEag/992c1651aa6c42be93_81ce757211dc/86",
    "url": "https://www.gumtree.com/p/ford/2016-ford-fiesta-1.25-zetec-hatchback-5dr-petrol-manual-euro-6-82-ps-hatchback-petrol-manual/1803803554",
    "keyword": "ford fiesta",
    "category": "cars",
    "searchLocation": null,
    "page": 1,
    "position": 6,
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-23T02:45:30.177Z"
}
```

### Input parameters

- **Search keywords** (`keywords`): one or more search terms, separated by semicolons. Up to 20 per run.
- **Gumtree category** (`category`): the Gumtree category slug, e.g. `cars`, `for-sale`, `property-for-sale`. Default `cars`.
- **Location** (`location`): optional town or area, e.g. `london`. Leave empty for the whole UK.
- **Max listings per keyword** (`maxItems`): 1 to 1,000. Default 60.

### Pricing

Pay per listing: one event for each listing row written to the dataset. Prices in USD.

| Plan | Price per 1,000 listings |
|---|---|
| Free | $1.00 |
| Bronze | $0.93 |
| Silver | $0.87 |
| Gold, Platinum, Diamond | $0.80 |

Measured platform usage on 2026-10-23: an 80-listing run over two keywords took 19 seconds at 512 MB and was billed at $0.001 (rounded by the platform). Platform usage is far below the per-listing price.

### Gumtree Scraper vs. alternatives

Other Gumtree actors in the Apify Store list their per-result price at about $0.001 to $0.00175 at the free tier (checked on 2026-10-23). This Actor reads only the search cards: it does not open each listing, so it runs fast and returns the card data. Seller details and full descriptions are not included.

### Using Gumtree Scraper with AI agents and MCP

Each listing is one dataset row with flat fields, so an agent can filter by `price`, `location` or `attributes` without parsing nested blobs. Call the Actor through the Apify MCP server or the REST API with `{"keywords": "...", "category": "cars", "maxItems": 40}`.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** The Actor reads public search pages without logging in and without bypassing any access control. You are responsible for how you use the data and for complying with Gumtree's terms and local law.

**Why is `price` null for some listings?** Some listings have no price on the card (for example "contact seller"). The raw text is kept in `priceText` when the card shows one.

**Why are there no posting dates?** The search card does not show them, and opening every listing is not part of this Actor.

**Can it run on the free Apify plan?** Yes. A 40-listing search finishes in seconds at 512 MB.

**What if a run returns fewer results than I asked for?** The run stops when Gumtree stops returning new cards or the page limit is reached.

**Errors and limits.** If a results page cannot be read after three attempts, the run records it in the ERRORS key-value record and continues. A run that reads no listings at all fails, so you are not billed for an empty run. Layout changes on Gumtree's side can stop the parser until it is updated. Large limits (hundreds of listings per keyword) were not measured in this release.
